I miss those days of MTV (music Television) actually playing vids. I remember those days of watching all day, just to record one video and missing it only to have to wait again for it to reloop. Who remembers "Remote Control" and "Yo MTV Raps" or better yet "headbangers ball" haha or what about the real VMA's back then! "kurt loder; adam curry and martha quinn? Need I say more" "singled out" or better yet "singled out durring spring break" The list could go on but I miss those days. Now all of that has been replaced for reality TV! "Downtown Julie Brown.....just saying"

Yeah I miss those old days. Even though I'm one of those guilty ones that watch reality TV shows I do remember watching MTV all day when I didn't have school and dancing along to the videos. MTV sucks now! What is wrong with them? I mean MTV was all about the videos and now it's about blah!

I totally agree! I used to do the same. Grab a hairbrush and use it for a mic while singing along with whoever was on at the moment. And believe me like every other teen in america, I knew every word to every song lol. Now I look and the first thing out of my mouth is "who is this and why are they on MTV" guess it comes with our changing times but I still say Boooooooo to the new MTV

Ah yes, the good old days. I remember one episode of 120 minutes that was guest hosted by Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) in which he interviewed Beck around the time when "Loser" was all the rave and Mellow Gold was coming out. Later in the show, Beck, Moore, and Mike D (Beastie Boys) jammed out and it was crazy amazing. MTV used to be a haven for great music, but it was mostly because the music of the time was great. MTV is a business like all other TV channels and they are going to put on what people want to see, which is popular music countdowns and reality shows. Sad, but true.

Very sad and Very true! Unfortunately that is what appeals to today's viewers! I just think it lacks serious substance anymore! All you can do is flip through the channels and skip straight past that one lol

i remmeber no really clearly tht mtv in the past was considered a real music tv so there was not much shos or tv programs but almost all kind of videos from all different kind of music..yes now in reality it becomes a little bit stupid in my opinion than in the past also judging from shows or chices they make normally..

I totally do too, in a way, although keep in mind that if they were playing all music again, it would probably be mostly rap. Not that I have anything against rap, but I like all kinds of music. I REMEMBER "Headbangers Ball"! There was also another one, called "All Things Rock" (it used to be on MTV 2) - Good Charlotte's frontmen were the hosts (usually, although it changed from time to time) and they pretty much did a countdown (I think) and premeired new videos. MTV 2 might be a little better about playing actual music & music videos now, but I can't be sure. All I know is that when I tune on MTV, because I can't find anything good on anywhere, Jersey Shore (and likewise ridiculous, stupid, and trashy reality shows) are on - it's irritating!

ahh yes., all things rock! I remember that too. That's one thing I will say, MTV2 has continued to play music over the years. I'm just over the whole reality show thing. Especially Jersey Shore and Teen Mom. It's just sad to me. I would take Daria and Bevis and Butthead over the shows they have now

I remember those early dsys of MTV fondly. I was a frequent visiitor to the MTV channel to watch my favorite videos and listen to my favorite performers. MTV introduced me to one of my favotite bands, Dursn Duran. I was a faithful viewer to MTV. Sometimes when i see a video on youtube, I can remember the first time that I saw it on MTV. I watched many Friday Night Video fights with Martha Quinn. My kids laugh at me for watching MTV for the videos. They only see the programming that MTV does now. it was so much simpler all those years ago.

Yes, I remember the days when MTV was Music Television, and not crappy reality television shows. I cannot stand the way that MTV is now.
