Why do people make fun of others when walking down the street?

Why do people find the need to laugh at someone who's just minding their own business walking down the street? I'm talking about snickering, giving dirty looks, whispering and pointing to their friends to laugh too or making sure that the person sees them laugh. I can't understand why people would do this since the person is not bothering anybody... Why would people do this, since I've seen this rude behavior coming from multiple people? Some people say its because of a lack of self-esteem but isn't that being kind of nice about it? To me it seems just really mean and spiteful.

Believe me my friend, I do experience that kind of condition a lot! As you know that I am blind, and it is still considered strange if blind person like me go out and do stuff. *** This report was given by my friends accompanying me. *** When I went to the mall, watched movie in the cinema, or had fun in amusement park, people would see me strangely, including my companions. Sometimes they would smirk at us, sometimes they whispered to each other. My friend even ever overheard someone said, "How come that those girls walk with a blind man?" Well, I think they do that because they do not have enough knowledge and education about human similarity.

some people have distrubed mentality. Making fun of others is the easiest work to do. But they should understand how much it may affect a human from their such stupid behavior.

Well yes I agree with you it is mean and spiteful. I was teased a lot growing up, never seemed to get along with the other children at school. I had been wondering my whole life, why? But, I think I realize why now. Because people like to be strong. They think that when they can pick on others and hurt there feelings, they have done something strong. They are big, because they can influence other people. Because the other feels sad, they will feel like they have achieved something. There self-esteem is feeling good. And when they can make others laugh with them, they feel like a Star! Sad people when you think about it, they don't have anything better to do, then worry about how to stay in control. hahaha!Sad part is , they don't have control at all. They are to stupid to realize it.

I never understood that sort of behaviour, I mean I'm not perfect but I was taught that its not polite to make fun of people and to treat people how I want to be treated, and I would not like it if someone made fun of me so I dont make fun of people like that. My theory as to why people make fun of others is because of there own insecurity's and because it makes them feel better to tear others down, also maybe they were not taught better or just didnt listen to there parents teachings.

You can not change things bro, you can not remove people who does this kind of stuff to other people, maybe they see thing that is really funny. but others are just making fun of all the things they see even a simple thing, they can come up with a idea to laugh on that thing, we just have to tolerate this things, for it is just normal in our everyday life.

It is very mean and spiteful. I think people do it to boost their self-esteem as well. It usually results from some insecurity they have in themselves. The think that pointing out other people's flaws and imperfections takes the attention away from their flaws. It is also makes them feel good about themselves. In their mind, it puts them higher up than the person thtey are laughing at. It is rude and disrespectful.

They find it fun. If you are the joy killer then you must not hang out with people like those because they will actually find it more funny when someone reacts. We find it epically funny. I'm sorry but that is how I am. Please don't make this discussion one sided. It's a form of entertainment. Some might be offended by it but why do you care if you are minding your own business? Do people make fun of you or they are just laughing and you just think that they are making fun of you?

I would say 'human beings are of different kinds', in life we will experience not only the nice ones, but also the bads. The best approach is to learn not to be effected by opinions or actions of others towards you. Not that we should all be ignorant or indifferent, but to know ourselves enough not to be nervous about anything knowing we have done nothing wrong. Instead of taking in what other people says, try look at them in a different way. See deeper and look for the reason why they do what they do and you will see for yourself that it is not you that have problems. Others will only have power over your feelings if you let them. Peace.
