We are living in a modern world full of high-technologies. Nowadays, many people are using the internet. Even my friend's Grandmother can be found playing games, surfing or chatting in the net. Networking sites like Facebook, Friendster, Myspace, etc. are made for socialization. But is it really safe to share one's identity in the net? Have you heard of identity theft or what others call as Cyber theft? I read somewhere that some people are getting someone's identity like their pictures and pasting it to another body by means of Photoshop. They're doing it to fake their identities so that they can use it on scams. Scary isn't it? That's why recently, I changed my profile picture with that of a cartoon character in my Facebook and Friendster and I also changed some of my privacy settings to secure my identity.

You know I heard from a news like these cyber theft issue of yours. It's about the facebook. The information you have in their could be used by other users and make out of that account like pretending to be you. And that's bad particularly if you're a well known person or rich in society.

Yes, and that's terrible.
I do remind all of you to activate all security and privacy settings available on your website, unless you are sure what you are doing. Never share something that is considered to be fatal if it goes to the wrong hand (e.g. password, ID, etc).
I use my real name to all my social accounts, but I never put a confidencial pictures in there.

There are so many people on the web all the time. And so many of them think they can grab the your identity and run. Make sure you be careful about what information you share. Someday you will connect.

Yes! I have heard this a lot of times. People are too good when in comes to money, they use their talent in the net to earn money. You are right back there, they use our personal identity for their own money making. I hoping my pictures and identity are not yet use for scamming.

Yes, identity theft can happen to anybody as long as there is someone who had malicious intentions against you. A friend of mine has been a victim of identity theft and the painful part is the suspect is also a friend of hers. The suspect created a fake Facebook account using her name and placed my friend's photo as profile picture. So when my friend invited me to be one of her friends in Facebook I did not have any inkling that it was a fake account because it was her picture that was shown in her Profile. It was just a month ago when she told me that it was not her account. I think we should be careful in posting our personal details and pictures online because there are malicious people who might abuse them. We should also check the security settings of our accounts and make sure that there are limitations on who can view and copy whatever we posted online.

that's a wise decision you made. It is true that nowadays when technology seem to be in boost, there are some people who take advantage of its use in a wrong way. There are lots of cyber theft and they use your information to do some bad things. that's why in every social network there are privacy and security settings and nicknames or usernames are usually codes so that you make your account secured.
