I was wondering when you post a discussion here at MyLot are your questions personal or not? I have started very few personal discussion. Meaning of course most all my discussion are not about my family, friends or any other personal issues. I am really uncomfortable writing about my own life? Do any of you struggle with writing personal or it does't matter at all?

I always share my thoughts, including in Mylot, as long as it is still in a general corridor. What I mean is; everything I share is considered to be general, proper, and no harm to myself. If I have to protect my privacy but I still need solution, then I can just post a topic and say, "I would like to know your opinion about this story," and I will not tell anyone that it is actually me.
But if that problem is still okay to be shared in public, then I will put my name there.

Yes I suppose I could do that. Right my concerns but not make it personal. That is a good idea. But no I still find it hard. Maybe one day I will get over it.

I do not use mylot as a diary. I dont write what I do everyday on mylot. When I find discussions that I like or can think of something to say then I leave comments. Once in awhile I come up with something new and make my own discussion. I dont have a problem writing about anything personal. I am not a private person my life is pretty much an open book.

I use to be known for being an open book when I was much younger. I guess I have learnt not to be that way. Is that a good thing?

I try to be more general than personal. I will write directly about me, but very little about friends and family as I figure they ought to be able to give permission if their details are given out.

Absolutely, I feel very important to be careful about sharing personal business about other people. As it really isn't our business to do so.

I wish I wasn't so stiff. I have read many discussions from people on here that get amazing support and gain wisdom from others.

To bad anyone would have to worry about our words ending up in the wrong place or that someone would verbally abuse us for what we have written about. Like you said it is fun to share with other and get their imput.

First, I used it to make money but now I use it to information exchange. In mylOt, no fish for personal information because if any, viewer and comment very little and you don't have money.

Making money on mylot is great for sure. I started out to make money as well but what was more important was to have a place to practice my writing skills. Now I have learnd I need to learn to communicate period.

Actually, I do not use myLot as a diary. I am somewhat private and don't always want to share things with the myLot community. I also have a daughter who is a member of myLot so that keeps me from sharing things about my personal life. Not much happening here so there's not much to share! I will talk about my love for crafts and the fact I am retired and loving it.

Ah carolbee you sure have been here long. I think maybe before me. It is always nice to see familiar names here at MyLot. Nothing like having friends and family around to keep us in check.

I'd say I'll answer discussions mostly pertaining to what I think the issue at hand is about.. I feel personal opinions are important to make this site unique, and I just love reading what others think about certain issues..and I'll also voice out mine the best I know how. I don't use myLot like a diary because I don't really start discussions anymore, but I feel like I can answer others and help them or just to chill with whatever is being discussed. It feels great, like a version 2.0 type of communication with friends.. just that friends are in the real world face to face, and this one is very virtual but still real.

I do, but sometimes only. Things that I notice or things that happen to my life or my family that makes me ask questions. I do not understand some things at all. So I share it here and people responds to it. And I must admit, it helps me understand things and I actually learn from it. I think mylot is not just a site where one can earn money, it's a site where you could actually learn things. It's really helpful. Happy mylotting!! ^_^

Hi CoffeAnyone,
No, I do not use myLot to "air" my personal business. I am a super private person, even in the real world. People who think they know me would be shock to finding out that they don't know me as well as they think they do.
What would be the point in telling a world of people, myLot's users are from different parts of the world, my personal business? They cannot solve any of my problems, so I just live in the real world and seek live help. If I seek any help at all.
I have a college paper due, where I have to write about myself and I am having a difficult time writing about myself, but the professor said that it must me done. So, in this case I will talk about myself, but not much here on myLot.

Sounds to me you and I have a lot in common. I am a private person and I hated to have to write about myself when I was in school as a young person. Now being older I am still private but try not to be so much.

Hi CoffeAnyone,
Being private people, we at least we know our secrets are safe; that is, until we get senile and tell everything.

Yes I agree; sometimes I am so surprised by what I read. I worry sometimes that writing to much personal information will back fire on them. Do you think when MyLotter's are being personal they worry about friends or family reading it?

Yes and that is okay too. I was just wondering as I notice some people seem to write just about everything personal and others seem to just talk about things not so personal like me. So I thought I would ask the question. Is it intentional or do people not even think about it. Maybe I think to much.

It actually depends on the situation, there are certain matters that i prefer to keep personal and confidential. I do post topics here which are of a personal experience but rarely would i mention exact incident, because again i still consider some things to be confidential. It's easier for me to write things pertaining to myself and my experience than that of others. but i respect your what you feel, be free to write discussions that will make you feel most comfortable.

Diary was probably not the right word for me to use but you got the point. I like your answer.

Why are you uncomfortable writing about your own life? Don't you think this might be a good way of expressing your own emotions? Sometimes it helps to talk about personal matters because for all you know it might be a helpful note to share or consoling to find that you are not alone in that matter.

I am uncomfortable for these reasons. One this is a world wide public place. You never know where your information could end up. For another sometimes when someone writes so personally they can be judged and maybe not rightly so and it hurts their feelings or deeper. I have seen it happen in the past to some people but I have to admit i have not seen that for a long long time. Maybe there are much nicer people here. No I dont' know but you know sharing your heart makes one vulnerable.

I don't use MyLot as a diary, but I do use Facebook that way, since my profile is private, and only viewable to my friends. I use MyLot when I have general questions that I want to pose annonymously.

I also try hard not to write personal but I struggle with that because I so often want to give answers that are so personal. I try hard to find a balance in that.

I make an effort to not write about personal stuff as usually it comes back sometime in the future and bites you in the butt when your regret writing about something. There are a few things I openly talk about such as my back problems and the surgery I had because it can help others in similar situations but stuff which mentions other members of my family I try to stay clear off as is day to day boring stuff.

Well actually sometimes I do tend to write discussions on mylot that are personal to me because you know a lot of people here on mylot are helpful and then I figure out what to do. So in a way yes I do use mylot as a diary at times it's always better to write things down when it comes to me because I feel like I am expressing myself and it makes my mind more at ease and relaxed.

I wish I didn't worry about being personal and I guess not trusting. Because I love getting to know people from the discussions.

After reading your responses to your discussion I gathered perhaps you did not mean diary, but that of putting out personal discussion and revealing secrets. Am I right?
Well I do not intentionally use it to convey personal information. I use it to discuss, how I am feeling about a certain something and or to apply my wisdom where I can. I have posted a couple things but some things I will not about my personal life.
The earnings are also great as well.

That is what I would be afraid of too. What if what I was saying got to the wrong person. I would feel sick about it so I stay away from anything personal unless I tell the person I am going to write about this situation.

Yes fun to write about anything and everything and get paid doing it. We just have to be wise.
