what would be your subject?

i love to draw, paint and play with different colors and shades. most of the time i find it hard to decide what subject i want to draw or to paint. my favorite though is anything in nature. there's this one time my friend bought for me a canvas and wants me to paint anything as gift for her mom. at that moment i felt like i was in the riverside looking at a boat sailing, and so i painted this with lovers on the boat, she instead gave the painting to her boyfriend and just bought a gift to her mom. Well that is what i'm feeling that time that's why maybe that what'e reflected on my piece. how about you? if you were given a canvas what subject would you be painting?

I would love to learn how to paint. In case i will be painting, i would like my family and friends to be the subject of my painting. I would also like to paint nature/sceneries.

Hi ergfortes,
Neither I am a painter nor I have tried anything like this one before. I remember that I always used to draw mountains and a river with a boat on it and a house and farmland nearby but that I think nearly every kid does.
Today I work as a web programmer and designer and the greatest challenge to me is selection of colors... maybe because I never had that creativity in me. So I think that even some one gives me a chance to draw on a canvas, the results would be miserably bad.
