I come in this morning to an email from one of my bosses. I open the email, read it, and then begin to follow the instrutions. I get half of the process done, and then i get lost in what I was asked to do.
I email her back and ask her to explain what she needs me to do. I get reply that says I assumed you know what I wanted. That's it!! So I get up, walk into her office and ask her again to please tell me what she needs me to do because i don't want to make any mistakes... She again says... oh being that we have been doing this for a while i thought you knew what I meant.
Again that's it!!! WTF!!! I am the kind of person who likes things to be spelled out for me. like step one breath in.. step too breath out!! Yes I want it expalined to me like I am a two year old!!!!!!!
Does this ever happen to you at work. Your boss tells you what to do, but don't give you enough information to complete the task??? How do you handle this??

I find that everywhere people just do not take a quick second to explain. I am amazed by the people, especially who have jobs that snap and go on and on with their thoughts, when all you asked was a simple question.
If people took 2 or even 1 minute to explain the stress levels would immensely decrease making for a peaceful environment.
So did she ever get around to explaining? How did it end?

It happens to me all the time. Not only at work. Even with my friends. They want me to help them with something but they don't explain me very well what i have to do. It is so annoying. I hate when people do this. And at work, they complain that you don't do a good job but they are not able to explain exactly what to have to do, and still, you're the one who gets the credit for doing a bad job. It is annoying; i just can't stand it.

It would not have taken her but a minute to explain what she meant. I was a "boss" for most of my working career and I had people working for me that required a lot of explaining when asked to complete a task.

I work on a hospital ward and remember the first time I saw someone suffer a cardiac arrest. My boss shouted "Back off!".... so I did... but she meant for me to take the back end off the bed!! Luckily, someone with more experience was at hand to do the right thing. You are right tho' - people should explain themselves if they want someone else to do something.

There are a lot of bosses out there who are like that. The workplace is akin to a war zone. You have to fight a lot of enemies and be sure to open your eyes to look out for those who will be helpful to you. Office politics are not to be missed too. If she's so mean to you try to ask her one last time. If she still insists on her own bloody behaviour, do whatever she "thinks you know" and hand it to her. Period.

yup i hate it when your employee is eating his words and the big problem is you can not understand each other. this makes me really angry, but since my employee is much older than me, i can't really get angry to him. And i'm thinking to fire him but i can't still find a replacement if he would be fired so for now, i got to have a lot of patience. peace
