common excuse

Nothing beats traffic. Most especially, if all latecomers use that excuse at the same time, making it more believable.

I think, Traffic is very common.. any better than traffic?

Hi jeyshjain, I am not late usually to work. Whatever the problem is, whether traffic, or I was late at home due to some work, I try to go by a cab or hire an auto. Only when I can't really reach which happens very rarely that I make an excuse. Ofcourse, one such excuse is that due to huge traffic, I couldn't reach to work on time.

Well I don't work right now, because Im still a school boy. But anyway, the best way to excuse for being late for work is telling: "Hey, Im sorry Im late, but the traffic was really bad" This always helps, Ive been using this sentence like 5years for now and it's always helping me out.

oh yeah! i have heard traffic as a common excuse for being late at work. and guess what? i hear this reason from someone who is being driven by a driver to work! duh! if i did not have to wait for a public transportation, and if i did not have to commute and ride and be wtih hundreds of other people in the train station, i would not have been late for work 9well good for me i am not the kind of person who loves being late!) And now i think these people who are always late are just lazy people. i mean, her reason now was that she and her mom was not able to wake up because they have no maid to wake them up!

Perhaps the most common excuse is the traffic jam. Because nobody can expect there will be a traffic jam suddenly when they are on the way. And they can't do anything to change the situation. So most people say they are late because of the bad traffic. I love China

taking children to school,traffic, bad weather, are common excuse.

the most i encountered is heavy traffic. Next in line would be health issues like headache and stomach pain. Real lame excuses but some of it works.

Hah...Today I was late and I decide to tell truth. WOndering about what it was? Traffic :D Yes, maybe it is overused but no one can tell it cant be truth. Anyway I hope not to be penalized :o
