Piggy bank gone Bankrupt

I have a piggy bank. Well it's almost half full, but now it's empty. I emptied it so that I won't have to ask my mom to lend me until salary day comes. I feel really sad that I have to empty it, it's almost full. But I think of it as a challenge. Challenge that I can actually fill it until December. I'm going to save and spend it on Christmas. Do you think saving is a challenge? Since Christmas is coming, there will be a lot of things for sale. I look forward on Sale. I can save money from it.

It is sad to know that you have taken money out of your piggy bank. I think you should try to cut down on your expenses and in that way you will be able to save up some money in your piggy bank to use for Christmas shopping. I am also waiting for Christmas sale. I have to get winter clothes soon. It just started to get cold. I have a sweat shirt and I am able to manage the present cold with that.

Also, I can understand you because I haven't made any money in the last two and half months. It is nice to hear that you at least have a job and you will be getting salary at the end of the month. I am still hunting for a job and hope it will happen soon. I wish you all the best in your savings and hope you will come out of the difficult financial situation soon.

Dear friend, When I was a boy I used to save my money in that piggy bank. It was really an interesting and thrilling when I finally check those money I have in that. Moreover once I even misplaced it and began to search for it, that was a horrible day. Anyhow, I hope it is part of developing an habit of saving in us.

Hi. trishasantos. I think that you are being really smart by saving up for Christmas time. I am sure that you will be able to buy many things that you can use. I have not started saving up at all. I plan to do so very soon though.

yes, saving could be a challenge. it's easier to spend money than save it. think about collecting coins for months, even years, and just spending it in an hour. saving is still fulfilling though, somehow it gives you independence, because like you, you don't have to rely on your mom's money anymore, but on your piggy bank.. i wish you could still save some till December. i'm also saving for Christmas. happy saving!

Yeah, sometimes it's kinda sad when you see all your savings gone, but when you really have to spend it, then you'll just have to. I find it easier to save money when I'm still single, I always spent less in my meals, and I seldom went out too. But when I'm married, then there are so many things to take care of, house loan, car loan, utilities fees, etc. Also, money needed for wedding preparation, giving birth, etc. Sometimes I just find it difficult to save money, and now I already gave up forcing myself to save a certain amount of money every month. I'll still try to spend less, but I just save whatever left over at the end of the month. Usually I do not save money for a specific reason, I just save for future.

I threw my piggy bank away, because I never have anything to put in it, so I didn't need it...

My husband and I will sometimes use money from our savings account if we want to get something but don't want to use money from our checking account. Our savings account saves itself up. That is to say we have one wherein everytime we swipe our debit card, a dollar from our checking goes into our savings. It helps save up, we have a limit of how much can be in there at one time, the limit is $300.00. So when it starts to get full we take money out of it, and usually we already have a purpose for the money. We're trying to save more of the savings money. We also have a jar that we use to save, it's a small jar so not much change will fit in there. My husband actually has a lot of the change from the jar in his wallet as one day I suggested we take it so that we could use it for breakfast. We only took quarters and a few dimes so as to not be pests. I know how it is to not want to have to bother family for money, sometimes it's a lot better to use your own savings anyway because you don't want to feel pressured to pay family back, or bad if you can't pay them back when they really need the money themselves. Mylot is part of our savings plan, I try to earn as much as I can and we either save it or spend it, but we're trying to save more of it.

I do think savings are a challenge and it's one I try to win each month. I also keep a little money around the house for times when we are one meal short before the paycheck comes in.

Of course saving is a challenge! We should always try to push ourselves to save a bit more than we have previously. I love piggy banks too, they are a great way to save. I don't have a piggy bank at the moment, but I save using a similar method, I put coins in a bottle that I break when it is full. That works pretty well too! So I do think you did the right thing!

Saving up your money i a good habit. Some people I know just buy and spend, then are left with no money in their wallet or card. Maybe if you save up enough money, you could buy something meaningful instead of having 20 pairs of jeans that you never wear.

I had to do the same thing two weeks ago. I hate knowing i am saving for something specific, and I have to empty it for another reason. the reason this time was paying the sitter. Summer was hard, only having one income for it. We are playing catch up. hope to get caught up sometime next month.

Hi, trish. I have a piggy bank but it doesn't look like a piggy. LOL. I usually put 5 or 10 peso coins whenever I have change and put it in my banks whenever I get home. Just like you, whenever I am almost out of budget, I usually get my fares there. And it;s been helping me a lot during the days where salary day is not there yet, It's really easy to spend but hard to save. And it will be a challenge for all of us here since December is coming and we all want to give gifts to our loved ones. good luck to us.

Good for u that u have a savings to fall back on & be independant & take care of youeself. I admire people that can do that. U need to always save & have something to fall back on when a rainy day comes along & believe me those rainy days come along. GOOD LUCK & GOOD FOR U.

Hi trish, don't feel bad! I have had to empty my piggy bank way too many times and then I start all over again! It takes time, but it will get filled up again, don't worry. I try hard not to touch the money once I put it in, but sometimes things come up that you just have to. Christmas is still two months away!

I also have a piggy bank. But unlike yours, it is easy to open, I open it every time I need cash. It will never become full. Poor piggy bank. I feel sorry for it. Always empty.
