Dishonest politicians

I am watching ANDERSON COOPER 360 on CNN, and they are talking about Christine O'Donnnell, a Delaware politician that is being investigated for improperly spending campaign money, not having a treasurer when spending campaign money, and other things. Apparently this woman also lied for several years about being a college graduate. From what I can gather, she DID finally graduate college at some point last year, but prior to that, she was apparently lying to people telling them that she had a college degree... These people seem to be in shock that this woman has allegedly done all this stuff. Apparently, they are having a hard time believing that a politician will lie to people and inappropriately spend tax-dollars. LOL Now, I am not the smartest person in the world, but even I know that the first job requirement of a politician is that you have to be willing and able to look people in the eyes and lie to them. To be a politician, you also have to be willing to take people's tax-dollars and give it away to people who are too lazy to work for a living, send it to foreign countries who harbor/train terrorists who want to attack/kill us, waste it on programs that do not mean anything while the things that really need to be done go ignored, steal part of it for your own private use and benefit, and mysteriously "lose" the rest of it in the bookkeeping process. Yet these people who are so educated and well-informed, who are on TV supposedly informing a nation, seem to be in shock that a politician will cheat, steal, and lie to people. LOL What is your opinion of politicians? Do you think they are honest, and that they always try to do the right thing? Or, do you (like me) feel that most "honest" politicians are unemployed? LOL

I am like you and I feel that the first job requirement for a politician is to be able to lie to his or her people. I know that this really isn't the right way to be, but I definitely can't see someone getting elected when they stand at the podium and tell people things like "Taxes will be raised," and "There will be less money devoted to education." Though that kind of talk is honest, it really wouldn't get a person very far in the political arena.

We need to do away with partisan politics all-together. Our political system has begun to look more like two college fraternities competing with each other than a group of people who are supposedly working together for the good of our nation...

I to,feel as you do. There is no such thing as an honest politician. I will admit, that there have been some that may have really thought they were there to help, both the people and their country, but once they get a whiff of the power, and money that they can steal from us,all bets are off. To my way of thinking,we could have honest ones after a bit,but I am afraid I am not at liberty to put the solution on the internet.

If you don't admit to doing something, then you're dishonest. She has never said that she hadn't done these things, and to my knowledge, has even offered to make anything right. Find me someone who's never made a mistake or told a white lie to benefit the greater good--you'd be hard-pressed to do so!

For me no honest politicians.Politics is a dirty game so all who are in the position must always said that, they are honest but actually they are not. They had to defend themselves so that on the next election the people will still vote for him/her.

Well...in some point that case is similar to ours here. I don't believe that they always try to do the right thing. Instead, I think they are busy convincing people that they are moral, does not engage in any form of corruption, etc. Not knowing that they have done nothing because all they do is wash their hands and throw malicious issues among themselves! Whew! Anomalies in politics exists all over the world...
