The Bible is the best selling book of all times in the World and has been translated into many languages. It contains the word of God and conveyed it through stories, parables, prophesies and poetry in the Old and New Testament. Christ's teachings on the Mount of Olives tie in with those in the Old Testament. It offers a glimpse of the historical truth and jewish roots of yonder years.
It is so interesting to read the many aspects of the Bible and so many lessons can be derived from it.
Some people have said that the Bible can be rather mysterious as it can be difficult to understand for the less initiated. Especially when the language is more apocalyptic (that is relating to the End Times) or more visually challenging in the books of Daniel and Revelations.
Personally I enjoy the Book of James which carry many encouraging words to live by -even in these modern times. I also enjoy the stories of old especially during the times of Moses' life and leading the people to the Promised Land. And perhaps towards the end of my life, Psalm 23 can be even more comforting to me.
Do share your thoughts on your favourites passages, stories or parts of the Bible you like.

hi asyria, thanks for your reply. Certainly the old testament has many interesting tales. If one delves further into it, one can see more historial truths if you seek them. Happy reading and mylotting.

Me I like the story of Joseph the dreamer most especially in the part when he recognized his brothers in Egypt. He wept in private and I wept too as I was reading the story. I like his story very much because it's a great example of forgiveness. See, he was sold by his brothers and he forgave them.

hi blessyme - yup, interesting and encouraging story line that one should not despair whilst cast away in a foreign place by family kinsman.

for psalm, I just like psalm 23. For the new testament I particularly enjoy James. There is so much studies and truths that we can glean from the Bible and if you do some cross-referencing, the truths tie in. For example the Daniel and Revelations pairing.

For me the famous verse from John is one of my favourite verses.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave us his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
And as I remember one neighbor taught me this verse from James.
James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."
Everywhere I go, I always think of that 2 verses. I think that helps me a lot.

My favorite part would be the Acts 20:28, it talks about the true church that people should belong. Translated by George M. Lamsa or Lamsa version.

hi winston, thanks for sharing. I think it would be interesting to read the bible commentary on these passage also to have a wider understanding of the passage as it may cross reference with another book of the Bible.
It is so much of a learning experience for me and open my eyes to alot of things.
