Frumpy is right. I don't need that. Some long dresses are nice.

for a large framed person,go for darker colors.lighter colors emphasize you big frame.I am a big-bones girl, around 5'5".I prefer wearing tunics with leggings and palazzo pants because they make me look taller.for a petite person,an empire cut dark dress with heels or wedges looks better.showing your legs can make you look taller.

thank you. That was very helpful. I have heard for many years that black and darker colors are great for larger people and then some designer or supposed expert said just the opposite. Where do they get their craditials anyway? The Cheerios box? Hehe

hi celticeagle as one whom you described to a t, I wear a denim skirt that flares, and loose fitting types in my favorite colors, various shades of blue or purple like lilac, lavender and a bluish pink these flatter my blue green eyes and my white hair and draw your eyes up towards my face rather than my big frame. Also I refrain from snug tops and pencil type skirts as a large person looks much bigger in skin tight clothes that do not flatter at all. I want my clothes to be loose fits so I might look a bit slimmer.five foot two eyes of blue has anyone seen me the tubbie of mylot ? I have lost 25 pounds but unless you knew me earlier you would still say I am obese but given I was 225 and am now 200 I am going the right direction.

That was cute! I am about seventy pounds heavier than you and around five five. Ugh! I rarely even buy new clothes and go for second hand or yard sale stuff just because I refuse to allow myself nice and new when I need to lose. I am just going to buy myself some new for my birthday and if I lose great, if I don't- oh well! I lost about thirty five pounds about a year ago but that didn't last. Ugh!

I would wear looser clothes. I once read that darker colors make people look thinner too. So maybe I would wear darker colors in my "problem" areas.

I say wear whatever you feel comfortable in.. I am by no means skinny and I am shorter and I find things that look fantastic that aren't baggy jeans and a loose shirt. I think that is ridiculous if someone thinks that all heavier people should wear. I wear leggings and dresses that are short. You have to see what looks right on you and how you are shaped. Even bigger people are shaped differently than each other. Empire waist dresses look fantastic and don't go for a long dress because they are so overrated. I only wear those for summers at the beach.
