having the chance to live in the city and in the rural area as well, i would say i am in the position to choose which place i want to settle and build my dream house in. The city, with all its glittering lights, night life, restos, bars, malls, cinemas and so many stores and museums will intoxicate anyone from the rural area, especially when its their first time to visit the city. With all its come-ons, many people had chosen to live in the city since jobs abounds and there are so many places to go, where you could languish and forget all your problems for a while.
On the other hand, the rural area provides the peace and quiet and serenity so lacking in the city. It offers a haven for a tormented and stressed soul. Living in the rural areas also gives us the chance to reconnect with nature and people. sometimes or most of the times, when you live in the city, you tend to have no time to get acquainted with even your next-door neighbor since you are always on the go, since life in the city is fast-pace, compared to the rural areas.
For me, i would prefer to live in the rural area where i can be closer to nature and will have a lot of time for peaceful existence. how about you my fellow mylotters? where do you prefer to live?

For me, i would choose urban area for my career and rural area for holiday. As we know, urban area has available various of job opportunities for me rather than rural area. So, i have prefer to live at the city for my career. However, rural area would be my resting place or vacation destination. It's true that rural areas have good environment for relaxing.

I work in the city but take a 2 hour drive to home everyday. I prefer living in the rural area. I love seeing the rice field on my way own, i love the breeze that carries the smell of rice grains...the stress from work fades away whenever i'm on my way home. The silence and calmness of the surrounding makes me relax and rested.

Im very happy for the area that I am currently living in, but I wouldnt consider it rural. Im living just between two large cities where there is about 100.000 in each or so, I have 10km to the one and about 15km to the other, my city is about 5000-8000 people and contains what I need in the daily life, easy to get to the super market and good bus connections to the cities where I find everything else like clothes, university and much more.
It makes it nice and quiet but yet close to the things you need :)

I definitely prefer the city! I hate it when my family has to go to rural areas for vacation - even if it's just for a day! There's usually no television, and if there is, there's no cable! There's no telephone, and my cellphone can barely get any signal. There's always a bunch of bugs and insects crawling and flying around, and there are no nearby convenience stores anywhere! Usually there's no electricity too - I can't live without electricity and technology! _

I rather choose the rural area. For me the good thing there is the place is quite, far from heavy traffic and you can breath fresh air.I grew up in a rural area and I consider it as my hometown. Now I am residing in a city. But maybe during my retirement,I love to live again in a rural area.

I prefer to live in the city. Though it is highly industrialized, the urban is still the place where you can have today's generation's needs. The malls, restaurants, public places, and a lot more. These are some of the needs. In addition, the city is the best place for you to enjoy your social life.

I can say that living in the city is very good when it comes to works and technology.
In city work, there's a lot of challenges and promotion is also at stake and also with improving one's ability and capacity, competition is always on the go.
but with rural life,i liked it peaceful and relaxing.
So,during school vacation,i always visit my hometown and stays there for a month long vacation for flushing out stress and toxins too.
But,generally,i prefer living in city.
have a great weekend

I want to live in a small city. I don't want to live in megalopolises where the pace of life is so fast you can hardly have time to breath. Skyscrapers everywhere, major traffic jams, high cost of living and over-population. I like small cities. Those new cities or less developed cities or even large towns. There you have the comforts and amenities of a city like grocery stores (I can't live without those!), some restaurants, banks, a few malls or stores and paved roads with sidewalks (LOL!). Cost of living is also lower in those places. But you also get the feel of a small town where there are many people, but not that over populated. You can get to where you need to go in less than 30 minutes. Crime rates are lower because of fewer people. Less pollution, too.

I prefer in living in semi-urban area and it is where I live. Semi-urban area gives benefit of both rural and urban area. It is also not noisy and also have all the services and things that I need.
Living in rural area will detach me from all the things that I love to use- internet, pc etc. Living is urban area is also not the best thing.
So living in a semi-urban area is what suits me.

I have had the pleasure to live in both, I was born and bred in a rural area and now living and working in the city. There are always advantages and disadvantages with both but I will always choose rural anytime. I love it when I am in the province because its laidback, I appreciate the beauty of the environment more, no traffic, air is cleaner and fresher, and people are just so friendly.

As for me, I wanna choose in the rural area. With the development of our science and technology, cities have a big change now. But the price of house is very expensive, the noise becomme more and more. What's more,we cannot get more fresh air. I just like the peaceful in the country.

I have always lived in the city so I am not sure how I would pick if I never experienced other locations. So.. with that said, I would have to say - I prefer living in the city.

Hi there my fellow mylotter! I'm just new here and was looking around to participate in discussions. After I started my first discussion, I saw yours which catches my interest.
If I were to choose a place to live, I would prefer to live in the rural area since I kind of love nature. I could even stare and admire at the simplest natural beauty of nature for hours when I'm alone. Just feeling the breeze and breathing the fresh air makes me feel so relaxed and forget exhaustions from work.
I would only live in the city because of greater opportunities for work and income. Maybe because I'm not an outgoing type of person that was longing for night life, bars, malls, and cinemas. But, I still love to travel to explore other places and guess what, the destination is still nature.

The rural area means simple living. It would be really nice to live in a peaceful environment. I lived in a municipality during my high school days. I consider it my hometown.
I haven't decided where I will build my dream house. But maybe, I will build it in the city. I choose this because of my future children especially my special daughter. We have more greater opportunities in the cities when it comes to education. I want to give my children good and better education for their future. Through this, I can live with them when they go to school, college until they finish their studies.
I have a very special daughter and she needs special attention with her health. She needs frequent check-ups and treatments. Only great cities offer some kind of specialists/doctors and treatments. I am just being practical nowadays.
