Why is Tiger our national animal when there is Cow and Elephant?

Because elephant or cows is available in so many countries that is uncountable. But the royal bengal tiger mainly lived in india and Bangladesh. So think which is great, Tiger or cow?

Tiger deserves to be our national animal because they are on the verge of extinction. Making it a national animal extends it a kind of protection. It also creates a kind of awareness among the people that this one animal species needs to be preserved. Another few years and maybe we will not be able to see live tigers even in the zoo. We will see them only the stuffed tigers in the museums. It is most appropriate to have tigers as our national animals. Cows are elephants are not endangered species; they are there to stay for a long time.

I, ironheart do not think it is a good idea to have a vegetarian animal like cow or elephant or goat to be our national animal. as our country, india is famous for its old kings who where mightier in their leadership. it would therefore be a bad idea to have a vegetarian animal to be our national animal. as tiger is a cruel and bold animal our country would also get its boldness when peoples of other countries talk about our national animal which is not possible if we have cow or elephant as our national animal.

Tigers is and should be our national animal. Not only it symbolize power, fearlessness, courage and bravery but also it shows our versatility. I would love to be called "Bengal Tiger" or "Tiger" than anything else. Think, had cow been our national animal what would we be called? As far as cruelty is concerned cows and elephant too are cruel because they kill plants and trees right! Buddy it is rule of mother nature, we can't help it. Tiger is perfect decision.

Tiger is chosen as national animal of India due to its grace, strength, agility and enormous power. Tiger is also considered as King of Jungle, so its a choice as national animal. Animals you have mentioned doesn't have these qualities. To represent a nation to need to have a strong personality (no hard feelings please). And not to forget the beautiful look of Tiger.

ya thats a good point to mention. but even after getting the advantage of national animal stil the tiger are very rare. so if they were not our national animal, in India the no: of tiger would have been zero.
