Hello there, mylotters!
Have you got odd foods in your country? Yes, right.. odd food.. weird food.. strange food.. gosh..
Well, here in Philippines..we have plenty of odd foods such as "balot" it's an extraordinary egg. I don't know how to explain it but all i can say is that there's a little chick inside of it where you would feel the feathers when you're eating. I have never tried that.
And then, we have this chickens feet, head, pig's blood.. chicken's intestine..oohh..and many many more.
I can eat some of them only.
Do you have these odd foods I mentioned?

balut taste actually good if you can conquer its look, like frogs if you wont mind imaging that jumper while savoring the legs it actually taste good.
most philippine dishes are already considered "exotic" by some nation i was once a member on an international forum (mirc forum) mostly european members, even a simple dish like sinigang na bangus (milkfish) they already considered gross upon looking at the head of the fish cooked in some vegetables.
i already tasted turtle meat (once taught of curing asthma), the other toasted typical house lizard (can't imaging eating one..i cant!)
here are some list that are popular here but i haven't have the courage or appetite to try..
1. locust - "balang"
2. monitor lizard
3. DOG MEAT - i have tried this when i was a kid (very young) and i will never try it again!
4. monkey meat
5. snake / python

I would never eat or drink blood even if you would pay me a million dollars. That is the most weirdest food I could ever imagine. If I would become a vampire I guess I would be left to no choice but drink blood. But as long as I am a mortal, I would never consider drinking blood. I would rather not eat if blood was the only thing left to eat in the world.

HEllo! Im a Filipino as well, and what you mentioned are all very familiar to me too, but I could only eat few of them. Balut is good I must say, I love the taste of its liquid content and the yolk part. When i was young i remember that i could eat the chick inside but not today because i couldn't bear the feel of feathers and small bones into my mouth when eating balut. I could eat fried frog, it taste like chicken but its much softer i must say. The rest, i could not eat because im not used into eating them, many said they taste good but im not willing to try. HAve a nice day!

hi! I have tried a lot aside from the charboiled blood of pig. I also tried snake cooked in coconut milk, monitor lizard (taste like chicken), egg cooked in tea and black chicken soup. Though it look odd because of the color the chicken meat really is colored black but it taste good because of the chinese herbs. Quite amazing when you try those foods.

the foods that I enjoy eating are very similiar, just daily vegetables, fruits, yogurt will satisfy me greatly. Yeah, now think of the odd foods or heavy expensive foods in the restaurant, I've eaten very few of them. They may seem to be very appetizing and was said to be extremely nutritious or powerful, yet I neither got the money nor the lust for eating them. I just enjoy eating tomatoes with fried eggs, broccoli, cucumber, eggplant, cabbages, beancurd, carrot, etc. fruits like apples, banans, pears, pineapples, cheeries, grapes, main dishes like rice, noodles, porriage, etc. I eat very little snacks, a little serving of pastries and nuts are ok. Rarely do I drink coca or other soft drinks. well, as long as I can eat some of those mentioned above every day I will be mostly satisfied and wanna nothing at all in foods. I'll focus my attention on many other thing that enrich my soul and make me truely happy. Oh forget to mention one thing, I keep regular exercise and exercise make me energetic, I can't live without it! I'm in very good figure, neither fat or thin. moderate, very smooth fare skin. I believe it has something to do with my simple life habbit.

balut is okay, i have eaten balut when i was a child and i do not find it odd - not at all. hehe
chicken intestine, pork intestines.. i have tried that too and they are good - you just have to know where to find/buy the clean and tasty ones.
the pinoy street food i cannot eat is the barbecue blood? i have not and i dare not eat that. some say its good - but nope, i won't even dare try it...

Well, I eat "balut" as well as those things that you have mentioned. I had my share of odd foods if you consider frog as odd. I was in General Santos and was able to eat a crispy frog from a restaurant. It was delicious, but I have to admit that at the start I feel skeptical on eating such. I was also able to eat a fried snake.... It was also good.

I don´t think that my country´s original cuisine has dishes that you would call odd. But of course that depends on the culture. I read a couple of weeks ago here that in the US they make dog food with the cow´s tongue. In my country it is a delicacy and I´d buy it very often if I had the money to do so. I have also eaten with pleasure brains and all sorts of interiors. I love a sort of sausage made with blood: yummy!!!
Many people here eat chicken feet but it is considered a way of getting protein for the poor. It is not sold in my neighborhood. But a long time ago, ladies made aspics with the gelatine from the cooked chicken , pig or cows feet.
