when you overhear things you did not mean to, in a public place... are you able to just not mind what you are hearing? or are you like me who more often than not still gets the whole conversation of the people next to you even if you did not mean to listen to them - they just talk too loud in public and even destructing your own concentration on other things?
Have you been in such a situation where you overhear stuffs you did not even intend to? are you able to just not really listen to them? does your ear have sme kind of a selective hearing it shuts itself off somehow...??

Hi chiyosan,
If you are out in a public place, you will no doubt overhear conversations that don't concern you. People are talking all the time about what they did or what someone else said. No one walks around without a cellphone anymore, so you will hear one side of a conversation, not knowing what the person on the other end of the phone is saying.
I have heard conversation in the lady's restroom between friends. I had no choice except to listen. They obliviously didn't care if everyone heard their conversation, because they were talking very loud. I heard what they were saying, but it didn't concern me, so I finished my business and l left them and their conversation behind. What can you do? join in their conversation? I think not.
I may have an opinion about what I am hearing, but I would keep it to myself. Unless, I overhear someone threatening the life or another or the country, I have no duty to report anything. In any case, I have no desire to do anything except mind my own business and get on with my day.

Hi,
I know the world is changing fast, but not for the better. The carelessness of people don't surprise me anymore.

I will just ignore them. Maybe I will still listen to them no matter how hard I try not to, just because they talk so loud.
I will ignore them, as they never talk that loud, as I never stand near them. Then probably their stories can be inspirations. Accidentally, they will give me ideas to write.
That way, they will not be bugs around us anymore. It's a win-win solution.

There are some times that I really can't help but listen. But there are also times that I can easily ignore it. Most often I just hear phrases and fading sentences and I just laugh over them but for those I have to listen to are often at public transportations. If I'm not just rude, I could tell them to maybe talk later about it. But well, I just play games on my phone to ignore them.

First of all, I am a type of person that does not like to interfere in someone else business. I consider it wasting my time because I clearly don't understand it, and I am just an outsider.
Yes, I am usually able to shut my ear up, not caring about overhearing things just one bit. If it gets too annoying, then I will put my iPod into action, and there I go, music!
