they even add that those who have fear believe in God. What do you think? Can a person who is fully confident on himself/herself and who is free from fears believe in God?
I admire Atheists, for their courage.
I am a strong believer of God.
Let us discuss and get clear views on this important and interesting topic.

Atheists believe in themselves too much they think they can play God, all knowing and whatever disillusion they could think of!
Gosh, vijayanths, you are going to cost me points again. Many will get angry with me again.

Eileenleyva, I've thought the same thing. I've seen atheists who sound like they are God, they sound as if they know everything. God is not a simple thing you can tie up and place in a bag. If it were that simple, He wouldn't be a god.

People believe in god for all sorts of reasons. I'm an atheist, but I would never make such a sweeping generalization and say that belief in god always comes from fear or lack of self-confidence. Most people believe in god because that's the way they were brought up. When we're small, we accept what adults tell us, and what we learn from them often becomes the basis for our future beliefs. It's a form of social conditioning, and it's existed as long as we've been human. Adults teach the children what's wrong and wrong, what to believe and what not to believe and that usually sticks for the rest of their lives.

Very true Catana, I started to believe in God when my parents taught me to. Then when I became an adult and started to think originally, I did not want to believe in God blindly. But whenever I was in big troubles and whenever I prayed with firm belief my prayers were answered just on time.
There are millions and millions of stars out there in the Universe. So much of energy, so much of space, My god, There must be some SUPREME power that created all these, That super power I think is God.

@ abrar thats the same as saying all Indians are only trusting their god and that's where it stops. Seriously, this discussion has been generalizing so many people... It actually wasn't my purpose to write on this, but I guess I'll have to do something since you guys just write and write on =)
Can you know that it was "him", can you see him, have you got proof he is there?
I got my own reasons for questioning things about christians, even though I don't believe. But at least I try to understand why other peoples believes, instead of mocking on eachother. Too bad there is no delete button to errace all that has been put in this topic.

Atheist may claim to believe in themselves, but when the tidal wave comes and wipes out everything they own, clearly believing in themselves didn't work.
When we look at the devastation around us from war, crime, broken families and so on... clearly believing in ourselves didn't work.
So in some sense I agree with them. Believing in G-d is to accept your own limitations, and realize your need for the almighty G-d of the universe. I'm proud of that.

Sweetie, they can say and believe whatever they want, if they would like to roast in hell, that is.
People have their own believes and whatnot.
I respect them for that.
But one thing i won't respect or like is when they come to me with crap.
I don't think we will ever get clear views on this, but at least we can try.
TATA.

I admittedly and whole heartedly believe in God. Although there are days that I lose my confidence and become really hard on myself. It does not take me long to gather my thoughts and pray for strength and forgiveness for my questioning.
I do not believe I would have made it this far without God, but I certainly do not impose my beliefs and or debate against others who do not.
Everyone can believe what they so choose, but hopefully someday I can meet them in heaven.

Atheists? and Courage?...what are you talking about...A person MAY fully be confident of himself "because" that same God may want it that way... and "fears" from believing Gods....you are way out of your league...I believe Gods can be friends that don't have to be feared...When in trouble I call for my friend "sai, sai, sai" it does not mean I fear him...I love him...I truly do...God's are there to love and respect and "not" to fear.....and by the way I am an atheist....with a little love for "sai bhai" ...beat that...You can't detest the unknown always....

I think these are two different things.Yes you can have full confidence in yourself And believe in G-d.And you can not believe in G-d and be FUll of self doubt.I think religion is a choice and I admire Atheists. And I would die for their right to Not Believe. But to assume that All people who believe lack self confidnce is as wrong as assuming an Atheu=ist is a person who doubts th Word of G-d and as soon as they stop they will be religious. All people ar different.

The Atheists are right we do have fear, but not because we believe in God, but because there is an almighty and powerful God that is really existing. Fear are not only for those who believes in God but all of us including the Atheists, the other animals, the plants, micro-organisms and all that has intelligence, emotions and senses wether microscopic, small, big or large.
BUT, there is very big difference between us who believe, love and serve God -- and -- to the Atheist, the other animals, the plants, micro-organisms and all that has intelligence, emotions and senses wether microscopic, small, big or large......and that is.... We have more than 100% fully powered of "confidence" in our own beings. Why?..... Because we are one with God, we are not only a likeness of God but we are a part of God. God dwells within ourselves, God's temple is the center of our heart, mind, body, soul and spirit. We are like a computer or a workstation that is connected directly to a powerful super duper computer. And connecting directly to this super computer or to God we have more than a lots of informations for all what we wanted or needed that we can have. Our thoughts, sensitivities and emotions has higher wider of awareness and consciousness.
Those who make great discoveries and contributes on Science in the history of mankind mostly are not Atheists but mostly who believe, love and serve God (like the Roman Catholics or Christians, Hindus, Muslims and Jews). Although these Atheist love science because of these great men and women who contributed, methodized, theorized on science including those that discovered that world or Earth is round or even the Earth is not at the center of the universe. These men all throughout their lives until they die they are still or stay as Roman Catholic or Christians - Nicolaus Copernicus, Sir Isaac Newton (study the Bible, the prophecies, the trinity, Jesus Christ, apocalypse, etc....), Christopher Columbus... And so on and so forth including Jewish Albert Einstein who truly believes that there is a God or the master maker, the designer of the whole universe.
Atheist don't believe or love God because they always forever saying "it is fiction made by man". Then why Atheists believe their own science as their own god which was also made or theorized by man also?...... What is the logic? The logic is simple they are god also or wanted to be god. The whole truth about having great knowledge is to be a god.
Fearing that there is a God or greater than I, having these great knowledge are just to know that there is a God and not to be a god.

hi, gjabaigar , first let me thank you for taking so much time to analyze, research and post your thought provoking views on this topic.I do agree that there is no one or no living thing that lives without any fears. All have some fear or other.I liked your comparison of God with the super computer.

What they mean is if they have no fears then they would be less likely to believe in a deity. What convinced you that god is real?

Faith. Hope. Love.
You don't need microscope, telescope, to be pope, a rocket scientist, doctor, super computer, graduated to finest expensive university and so forth in able just to have knowledge about a one and only true God.
Believing to God is just the beginning of your love to God. If you love God you have to follow and serve God. That is more than knowledge of science can ever know or can't explain. KNOWLEDGE or science is not a requirement to know there is a God, all you need is full UNDERSTANDING and WISDOM.
In other words you can't really know a one only true God, if you DON't have a humility and a compassionate of Faith, Hope, Love, Understanding and Wisdom. And just only relying those five senses of your body.
God is a spirit, a powerful and the most powerful intelligent body of spirit, that is not bounded by space and time.

That explains why atheist come across as so arrogant. If there's any people who are fearless it's the religious people. Is there anyone more maligned? They could follow the crowd in order to be accepted, but they choose to follow God even though they know the world will hate them for it. That doesn't sound like fear to me. That sounds like courage. Like lemmings, atheist follow the politically correct crowd. What's courageous about that?

Hello vijayans,
So, what if i don't believe in myself, that doesn't stop me from believing in god. what's the point of that. they can just blah blah blah this and that. that's their problem, i wish that being atheism be used to benefit some one who is in religion and not curse or shove their religion of their *******. am sick of it.
But i do believe in myself. not just because i believe in God, but because How God made others strong and how they survived it all. and take note, most of them have faith. most specially my people.

Without reading the responses, I have to ask why it's supposed to be about fear? I was raised an atheist but God had other ideas. Yes, I've heard all the church stuff about burning in hell and all that, about how we should not count on our abilities for anything but I believe that's missing the whole point. "God" is anthropomorphism of the reality; that's what I've discovered, just a way to be able to think and talk about God. God is way more than anything we can truly think of, so atheists are only disparaging and denying people's explanations and understanding. Being in touch with God is a matter of expanding everything about ourselves as a connection to everything that is.

Let them be, If they believe in that. Fine by me!:) One question then, if there is no God, then who made them? or who has sent them through their parents? If they believe in themselves too much well, then yeah maybe they sent themselves in too :)

Hi vijayanths, I'm not sure if anyone is completely free from fear, but all people who believe in God are not filled with fear either. I wonder sometimes how many who claim to be athiests really are, just as I wonder how many priests, ministers and pastors and others really believe what they are telling their followers. I am sure that there are many who believe in God and also brlieve in themselves. Remember that great many religious teachers have encouraged people to believe that they can do whatever they set their mind to doing. Athiests don't have a monompoly on self confidence. Blessings.

hi, Pose, Nice to hear your views again. Yes, I also think that there is no one who is completely free from fear and all people who believe in God are not filled with fear either. It is also true that Atheists don't have a monopoly on self confidence as rightly pointed out by you.

Spiritual belief is personal and I respect whichever way other people choose to see the world. I believe that there is a Higher Power but I do not expect others to see things the way I do. To say that ‘those who don't believe in themselves believe in God’ is a ridiculous statement and I have to wonder if that is the way all atheist see those who believe. Perhaps such statements come from those who feel they have to control every single part of their lives and criticise those who are content to let another force run the world. Let us respect each other and live and let live.

Sounds to me like they are desperate. What I mean is, what kinda mess is it to say that if you don't believe in yourself, you believe in God? Arrogance is a card they play...I need someone to help me understand...athiests say that there is no God right? If He doesn't exist, why resist those who believe? How can you refute something/someone who doesn't exist??
The fear athiests share is that God actually does exist and one day they'll have to answer to Him. Sometimes I have pity for athiests, then it dawned on me...THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS ATHIESTS

"...THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS ATHIESTS" I think you are right about that. I believe people who declare, "There is no God," are angry at Him for some reason or they don't want to have to answer for behavior they know in their hearts is wrong. If you don't believe in something, why make such an issue of it? Why try so hard to destroy it? Why bother with it at all?
