This past week a young women was gang raped. People watching video taped the act and then posted it on facebook. After police forced video to be taken off facebook others would put it back on. Some are saying that the parents should sue facebook for making it easy for subscribers to post material like this. What do you think?

Yah, I am not so sure facebook is responsible. I am 100 percent sure all who uploaded this video are criminals and need to be prosecuted.

Why would they have to be charged??? Did the owners of facebook commit this atrocious act? Let's start blaming everyone except the criminals themselves I suppose.

I hear you, I was in a situation last night where someone was adamant that face book had to be sued by the parents. That facebook should make it impossible for anyone to upload videos of that kind. I didn't think so but I wasn't strong in my opinion as I wasn't sure I needed to think on it some more. So now of course I wonder how others feel about the matter.

It's as easy for them to put a video of a gang rape up, as it is for me to put up a picture of the bouquet of flowers my husband bought me. The people who hsould be sued are the people who are using Facebook for evil, rather than good. Facebook's only responsibility should be to take the videos off, and do the same with all future dangerous content.

It would be almost impossible for any social website like that to continuously monitor and edit content provided by members. Keep in mind that, with over 100-million members, there would be over 1000 new entries PER MINUTE being posted. It would be impractical to hire enough staff to monitor this. They would have to rely on reports from their members and keep only enough staff to be able to respond and pull down this sort of thing.

no, not face book. i don't think the act of the persons involved should be charged to facebook. facebook here is the "tool" and then it is the people who uses this tool. right? its the same thing as when you use something to hit a person - you jail the person and only use the thing as evidence.

I think facebook shouldn't be charged cose it's web portal for everyone and anyone could have flush access to this site. It shouldn't be commerciallised.

Although this is a very sad circumstance and enough to anger so many. Facebook is not responsible for what members upload. They do however personally view material and it is a matter of time before they catch up with certain videos that they are able to stop this sort of madness. Personally the people posting it are responsible, although I think freedom of speech would protect them. So very unfair to the poor girl, she did not deserve the rape and or to be in public display. God Bless her.

First let me say that posting something of this nature on the internet anywhere is beyond disgusting. Can't understand why people think it's so "cool." Talk about a demeaning experience for the poor girl who was raped. If this happened to one of our girls I would contact our attorney and attempt to target the person(s) responsible for posting the video on Facebook. Most of these sites are protected and do not take responsibility for what is being uploaded on their site.

If Facebook is to be charged then I think anyone else connected to the incident should be charged. They include 1) The manufacturer of the recording equipment because without it there would not have been a video on the incident. 2) The Internet Service Provider used by the perpetrators, Facebook, and the viewers. Without an Internet connection not many people would have access to the recording. 3) The rapists' parents, for failure to inculcate positive values in them. 4) The victim's parents, for failure to educate her on recognising potential problems, and ways to get out of a difficult situation. I rest my case for the time being.

I think Facebook needs to work on letting people download pictures and photo's that should not be! If not they need alot more people on staff checking the site to get rid of the nasty stuff! If not hire some police to do the searching when off duty! It just freaks me out hearing stories like yours about a video of a woman being ganged raped that was put on Facebook! People don't think or care what they post on Facebook! It is ridiculous! Something need to be done! if not my suggestions maybe making it harder to post the shameless, disgusting and disturbing items on Facebook! Hopefully soon!

of course face book must be responsible for users of their site they have to protect the interest of the people mostly the users, they have to be generous to obey the rules of the environment.
