Should smoking be prohibited in public places? For nonsmokers speaking, smoking should be prohibited. First, the bad smell of smoking affect nonsmokers. Smoking is not only harmful to the smoker but also results in the deaths of non-smokers. It is said that smoking kill at least three million people each year, one every six seconds. Scientific research shown that the rish of developing lung cancer from the increased smoker. If continous smoking, will bring heart attacks, sore throats, headaches, pulmonary emphysema, etc. Second, smoking not only pollutes the air but also makes the streets dirty. Third, some smokers flick ash off their cigarettes and throw cigarette butts everywhere. Forth, Smokers cause many fires that kill people and destroy property. For above factors, we should suggest government to prohibited smoke in public places. Do you have good suggestions?

I am a smoker and I do smoke in public places. However, I will have no problem if the government would ban smoking in public places as I know it would benefit everyone. Besides, I do not like seeing butts or ashes thrown discriminately. I do not smoke when I do not find any ash bin near by and smoke only at designated areas. I'm into cutting down my smoking so I would welcome it if it becomes a government ban.

Hi mimining, I am pleased to know you don't oppose the government to ban the smoke in the public places. In our country, some public station appointed the places for the smoker, so the smokers should abide the regulation to smoke, and throw the ash in the ask bin to avoid any inconvenience to others.

I completely agree with government can prohibited to smoke in public places, however I saw people often smoke in public bus station, especially smoke in bus, which bring bad smell to non smokers, and affect the air in the bus.Why are those smoker people can't think about others health? Only consider his smoking addiction.Hope smoker can abide the rules of smoking.

I strongly believe that smoking should be banned , if not prohibited in public places. Smoking, slowly kills a human being. By allowing smoking in public places, non smokers are also affected. Now a days we see the warning ' SMOKING IS HARMFUL TO HEALTH'. Then why it should be followed? Let us try to kill smoking before smoking kills us!

I think that smoking should not be allowed in public places. Smoking affectes everyone whether they are smokers or not. Smoking puts all of our lives at risk. It is a health hazard that should not be shared. If people need to smoke, we should have places for them to do this that will interfere with non smokers. Getting smokers to kick the habit would be even better!

Hi,bettydeng5! I don't like smokers because I don't like the smell. My father is a non-smoker.So I'm not accustomed to the smell like some of my friends are since their fathers smoke.Whenever I smell the smoke,I couldn't help coughing. I heard that in my city, smoking in public place has already been banned by the government.I don't know if it works well, but I still see some people smoking in public places. It's really harmful to non-smokers.Hope everyone can just discipline themselves and concern about others' health. Have a good weekend!

I am non smoker, because I am a woman. My father really like to smoke, I told him many times that smoking will affect his health, he said it's very difficult to stop smoking, I guess it's addiction.

Smoking in public is really have to be prohibited. Not only for the mentioned reasons here, but if smoking is done publicly, even the non-smoking can be at risk. SEcond hand smoker could also be in danger of getting sick. And it is more painful for the reason that they did not smoking at all, but just mingling with the smokers. When I'm with someone who is smoking, I really used to tell them "If you don't mind can you stop smoking, I'm an asthmatic.", though I'm not..lol. Well, just to let them know that they caused us harm by their vices. Happy mylotting.

I am not in total agreement about banning smoking in public places. I do support having designated areas for smoking. I smoked for about 10 years and understand the smoking habit. I chose to smoke and I chose to quit. We all make decisions, good or bad and must live with the consequences. All the research and statistics that prove that smoking is harmful will not stop a person from smoking.

yes smoking in public places should be banned. I mean if they wanna die of lung and throat cancer I think they should keep it among themselves instead of trying to spread it to others who would want to live a healthy life. Getting second hand smoke is unfair.

Yes,smoking should be prohibited in public places and the offenders should be punished because the non-smokers are also prone to the same diseases like the smokers & hence they are known as 'passive smokers'.

Smoking is already prohibited in public areas in many countries. In Singapore, smoking is not allowed in air-conditioned places, multiple storey carparks, children's playground, bus stop and taxi stands. If one wants to smoke outside any building, they have to be at least 500meters away from the building's entrance. As for coffee house, there's a designates area for smokers, but it's got only less than 5 tables there. As u can see, it's getting harder and harder for one to be smoking in Singapore with so many restrictions. I won't be surprise if they going to ban smoking completely. I pity the smokers.
