I now have an Ipod!

My wife was out all day today with my daughter as a reward for her recent good work at school. They went out for breakfast, went to a movie and then went shopping. They bought a few new things like girls usually do when they shop together. Clothes, earrings, etc... but they also came home with an Ipod Nano for me!!!
She gave it to me while I was building a LEGO city with my son and I was dumbfounded. She said that it was a late Fathers Day present. But I said "you already got me that book" pointing to a guitar lesson book on the shelf and she said that she had forgotten about that.
I am grateful for the gift, but I am trying to save money for other things at the moment, but oh well, it is an awesome little toy. It is sooo much better than my old MP3 player. That one took batteries and was full of stuff that I no longer wanted on there, but cannot get off for some reason. This Ipod is slim, light weight as it charges via a USB cord and even has a video camera. How cool is that!
Now I have to get the thing full of my music. This is taking some time.
Have you received any unexpected gifts lately?
Do you have an Ipod?

What a great gift by the way..your daughter has got good taste!
As for me, I was annoyed when I bought my iPod. Why? Because it's one of the older generation models. It's huge and hasn't even got a colour screen (that came out not long after I bought this particular model, which is what I'm annoyed about). There are loads of my tunes on there from CDs. It doesn't play video either but I'm not bothered about that.
One day, my ambition is to buy a deck that transfers tracks from LPs to my iPod (or even straight onto my computer, then onto discs) but that's a long, LONG way off!

I do have a turntable already (along with a hi-fi system) but I can't hook my iPod up to it. No USB connections!

Yep, you are wrong! You will have to keep guessing the colour!
Yes, some of the recordings that I have downloaded from free sites have been a bit dodgy, but mostly they sound pretty good. I have over a days worth of music on there so far and it is not even half full yet!

Yes, they do have a large memory on them. Mine has 40GB which is why I bought it.
Now then, the colour of your iPod..let's see..white like mine?

I suppose an iPod is only as good the quality of music that is put on there. By that I mean they are similar to old tapes in that respect. If a CD or vinyl LP had dodgy production on it then that would transfer onto another format, and that includes MiniDisc too (I have a rather flash machine at Mum's that is no longer in use) but I'm pleased that you like your new toy. I will hazard a guess that it's blue but I'm probably wrong!

I think that was sooooo nice of her to surprise u like that.y'all sound like a very sweet couple & i always like to hear that. I love surprises like that. I haven't had a surprise gift in a long time. No, i do not have an ipod. I really don't need or what one but i'm glad u got one.

It was a nice feeling to be surprised.
I do not think any one has ever described us as being a sweet couple before thanks for that.
The Ipod already came in handy as someone asked me if I could film something for them yesterday and I did not have my video camera, but I had my Ipod, so I filmed them with it. Hopefully the quality will be good once I upload it.

Well, aren't you the lucky boy
To be honest, if I was given the choice, I'd probably have the LEGO city over the Ipod. I'm sure I'd find the Ipod entertaining and useful if I had one and i would wonder how i ever lived without one but I'm not really into technology that much ...eg - my mobile doesn't even have a camera - it does calls & texts, that's it
Oh, no haven't had an unexpected gift lately - tho i did come home from work yesterday to find my son baking a big batch of oaty flapjacks... does that count?

I am not that fussed about keeping up with technology either most of the time, but I do enjoy these new gadgets when I get them. My mobile has a camera, but only because the cheapest one that I could get came with one. I could not buy a new phone without one. I never go online with my phone or anything else with it like most people do these days.
I think that due to the small size of this player and the fact that I do not have to worry about batteries going flat, that I will use it more than my old one. I am looking forward to listening to some of my music more often and getting some new music on it.
If your son baked Oaty Flapjacks (are they pancakes?) and you got to eat some, then yes, I guess that counts!

hi rawbill that does sound really cool.I would even like one
of those with a video camera as I do not have a camera
and love to take pictures.I would love the music playing
part too as I am heavily into classical music. and I do
alot of mylotting while listening to favorite things
by Mozart.

Hi Hatley, it is amazing the technology that can be crammed into such a small slim device. I could not have imagined anything like this just a few years ago. I do not know how much smaller these things can get as they still have be able to function with the users hand size.
It is good to be able to listen to your favourite music wherever you are as it fits into my pocket without me even realising it is there. It plays without the headphones too as it has a small speaker that puts out a big sound for its size, but the sound through that is not as good as the headphones.

I haven't received any unexpected gifts lately but it is great to get them sometimes. My girls have ipods and they love them. It is hard to fill those little devils up with music. There is a lot of space. They are neat little toys. Glad you got one.

Hi Ann, I am enjoying it thank you. I did some videoing with it today, so I will see how that turned out soon. I have no idea how much it cost and I am not sure I want to know.

Keep saving and you will do it.
It is good to have these goals to save for at a young age as you learn saving habits that can transform into larger things like a car and then a home later in life.

Just try not to buy too much or your future saving will be destroyed.
