The world has changed a lot. Particularly. when it comes for transportation. Before, people just walk or ride on a horse or any other animals. But now, we have many kinds of transportation such as bicycle, car, plane, etx. As a result, I am easily get tired when i just walk to go somewhere even if it's too near where i can reach it just for 10 or 15 minutes. I depend on the transportation things. Tired of walking too much especially if there's a very hot weather.

for me it depends on the time. if its early in the morning and i have the time to walk well walking will do for me but if its 12:00 PM and the sun is very hot, whoooo thats another thing. i don't want to walk under the heat of the sun so riding it is. good day.

But after the advent of modern modes of transportation. The pollution levels also have gone up which resulted pollution which ultimately causes health hazards and global warming. Even if we walk for a short distance the polluted air which is invisible when inhaled will have ill effects on the health.

I couldn't agree with you more. Even though I wasn't born during the time where people had to walk so far to reach places, I do heard of stories and accounts from adults who lived during that time . Even though they had to walk, it was just like a walk in the park for them because life during that time was just simple unlike how it is today. Everything is just so fast-paced. We might be left behind if we won't ride on how the world in terms of transportation is now. Riding a vehicle will always bring us comfort in a lot of terms but as mentioned from the responders above, it does have its cons health-wise. Thanks for sharing by the way. Best of luck

hi tess oh yes we are all so spoiled as we will here in the US in California drive our cars just two blocks to get groceries. I can remember as a kid when I lived on our farm in South Dakota I used to walk to town from our farm about one and a half miles and never think a thing of it. I sure could not do that now as two blocks iires me out. I do have a bad foot with a heavy brace on it but still I used to be able to walk for 45 minutes and not get really tired. NOw i just cannot do that.

I enjoy walking around the metro very much. I can go for hours just walking from one destination to another. I walk to the public market to buy fruits in the morning or late afternoon depending on my mood. After living a hectic life, I forced myself to slow down and enjoy the mundane things - the sunset, children playing after school, the barkers urging people to take a particular ride. I try to chat up people in the streets, find out about their lives. It makes me pause and thank God for all the blessings that he has given me.

For me, I prefer to ride a bike. Well, if you are going to walk in distant journey, of course you will wish to have a ride. Bicycle is one of the most effective exercise where our whole body functions and blood circulates. Well, it is still good to walk around.

Gone are the days when we have to walk very far to reach our destination. Now there are different kinds of transportation available. Well, this certainly gives us comfort but definitely it makes use less active physically contributing to bad health later on. I cannot just walk to my workplace from home. The distance is quite far. Its also difficult for me to just use a bicycle since I carry things that are needed that I cannot just put in a bag or back pack. Considering this, I try as much as possible to move my legs even in the workplace, I use the staircase all the time instead of using the elevator. When I need to do some errands, I walk for as long as the distance is not quite that far as long as I am not carrying much. Usually every other day, I jog in the morning and do push ups and sit ups on alternate days.

Hi. tess_quinain. I would rather just ride the car to where I have to go to. I only prefer this transportation mode because of my three children. When I just want to walk to the store that is across the street from my home, I will walk if I have to. And, if I am going into town when I don't have transportation, then I will just catch the city bus. I agree with you, when it is very hot, walking is not the best choice to make By the time I start walking the hot sun will soon hit me making me hot, sweaty and exhausted.

In the busy days when you have very limited time to spare, using a vehicle is a sort of compulsion. But I would prefer to walk to the destination as it is good not only for my health, but also for the planet. I know, that if I use a bicycle, there would be lesser issues with the planet and my health would also not be that affected. Apart from the heat and humidity, the distance to be covered also plays a deciding factor whether I should walk or use a transport. Most of the cases, I rarely use a private / owned vehicle for transport, I prefer public / shared transport.

Hello there! I agree, that's very true. People nowadays really depends on every thing that is instant, fast and easy. I am one of those but these fast few days, when I started to resume working, I managed to lose weight so fast because of walking. Many people in our neighborhood always commented that im losing weight. Of course, i like that because ive grown so fat because of less activities when i became a plain house wife. My present job required me to walk whenever im assigned in the field. When i was new on that job, i always complain of tiredness and exhaustion because im not used to walk for a long time. But now, i saw the advantage of walking. Im no longer catching for my breath just like before whenever I walk for a long time, I earn and most importantly, I began to loose weight without having to pay for a Gym. Have a blessed Sunday!

i truely agree with you. even i become tired when i have to walk for 10 mins. I need a vehicle to go to the place even if it is nearer to my place. We people are becoming more lazy now.

Yes, the world has truly changed. The transportation has increased many fold. The ease of getting vehicles, two-wheelers has made this most popular mode of traveling. The result is quite interesting and yet dissatisfying. I remember couple of years back when I started my teaching career. For the start, I used to walk nearly 30 min to reach the nearby bus-stand and get the bus. However, after couple of years and making some money I got myself a motor-cycle. What then, I started getting late for every official engagement, meeting, seminar. Even for visiting saloon I would use my bike. After looking into degrading health I opted to sell my bike and prefer the same walking. Its never been uses to come out of comfort zone. But it has really Paid. Today, I make a decent earning, Plus we have two motor-bikes in our home, I still prefer either to use a bicycle or walk. The most intriguing fact is that Even when weather is calm, soothing and cold, people still use their obsession like scooty, car, motor-cycle. Look at China, This is the only country with largest bicycle user around the world. I hope we will learn some lessons out of it and come back to basic. Not only it will bring good health, it will help to stop the growing exploitation of environment. After all we have to save it for future generations. Happy myLotting!!

Many of us depend on transportation devices all too often, myself included. Obesity is becoming a major problem in developed countries. I work within walking distance of my house so when weather permits I walk to work. It is better for me and I save money on gas and parking as well, not to mention the fact that I am not adding to the fumes of a big city. However, I find that when I am doing errands etc. that it is just simply easier to take the car, even if it is something that can be done on foot. However, if my destination is across the road, down the street, ridiculously close I walk. Sometimes I have to push myself to walk more even though I enjoy walking.

I agree. I rely on transportation more than just walking even if it is just a mile or two away when before I would walk.
