Do you bake?

I don't bake a lot. I came across the picture I'm including in this discussion today when I was using my parent's computer. It was taken a year ago when I made it for their 34th wedding anniversary (I didn't make them a cake last month when they celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, I think they were gone). I actually do like to bake, do you? I just don't do it because I don't want to have temptations around. I don't get tempted by pies or cookies, but cake tempts me!
My baking efforts are usually reserved for family because while I make a great cake, I never do decorate it very well. I don't want to buy cake tools if I won't be using them often, so I try to do it just me. And as you will see in the photo, I'm not good at all. What about you?

hI aMBIE, I DO like to bake. Don't do as much of it as i use to since there's noone here here but me & i don't need it. When my sons were home i kept something baked all the time. They were always having friends over. I did make 2 pears pies yesterday, carried one to my neighbor who had gotten home from the hospital & shared the other one w/another neighbor. I think your cake looks fine. I know your parents appreciated u doing that. That was real sweet of u. I am still not getting any notification on your discussions. Saw this one on the digest again.

It is not a bad effort Pam, much better than what I would do! I don’t bake as a rule except when my daughter is home on school holidays. Baking cakes or biscuits is something we enjoy doing together; she’s only eight so she loves making a mess and licking the bowl! My girl was given a cup cake maker for her last birthday and it is supposed help with the icing decoration but we don’t do very well in that area so the end result may not look great but it usually tastes delicious!

Hi AmbiePam
I love to bake, but I don't anymore because I would have to eat most of what I bake, myself. When my children were growing up in the "old" neighborhood, I use to bake breads and cakes to share with my neighbor and her children. Oh, how I miss those days.
Children playing and laughing in the safer street, while the moms are taking care of the supper, all gone like a puff of smoke.

Hi,
The young people don't know they are missing, since most of what they consume is fast foods.

Actually I love baking cakes and I'm very good at it. Everyone asks me to bake their birthday cake. Like you I'm not the best with decoration. I enjoy baking cupcakes and biscuits as well. My favorite cake to make and eat would be pineapple.

I bake a lil bit not a ton. I make things like cookies, zucchini bread, banana bread from scratch and the occasional cake ala box ;0)
I agree if you don't use or make things often enough why on Earth would you want to invest in all sorts of pans, classes, utensils, and other various equipment? I suppose if I could afford to and had the room to store it why not?!?!

I do enjoy baking, although I stick to mostly things like cookies and brownies and muffins. ( I could go for a blueberry muffin right now actually.) I unfortunately don't have that much time to bake as I used to and sometimes it's just easier to stop at the bakery to pick up something to satisfy whatever sweet craving i am having at the time.
As far as decorating goes, I can barely frost a cake let alone decorate one. Mt niece has gotten pretty good at it, and she insists it just takes practice. It all tastes good, even if it's not as pretty as we'd like, right?

I love baking and wish I could do it more often! I just had a weekend bakeathon as I call it, three cakes in three days :) I hear ya though, I would love to get more baking tools and equipment, but because I don't get to use them often, they become unnecessary purchases. :(

I love to bake. I bake cakes, cookies, and candy. The usually spend most of the month of December leading up to Christmas baking. I always make sure that I have baked goods on hand in case people drop by or they bring an unexpected gift. Later on today I will be making Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies.
I like the cake in the picture. If you can find the recipe please PM me with it.

Yes I do bake; I've studied a year in culinary arts. It's tiring though but exciting especially when somebody's waiting for the cake or even some dish to get done. I'm planning to buy a new range, a portable one because it looks slim and I only have a small space in my home.

I absolutely love to bake. I bake my husband cookies all the time and integrate some things in them. I made strawberry brownies with real strawberries, and orange brownies. Mmm juse thinking about them makes me want them. I especially enjoy home made brownies. I am going to try something new this week. Brownies with peanut butter. I am going to melt the peanut butter and put it in the middle of the brownies. I've made a few cakes home made but the icing never turns out well. My mother-in-law has plenty of decorating tools for cakes but I get discouraged so easily. I think since we moved in here 4 months ago I have gained 30 lbs because she always keeps junkfood and brownie mix around.

I actually love baking..more then cooking but I also don't like to have all those sweets around. I bake alot with my granddaughter...then I send most of it home with her as I know her daddy loves to have homemade treats and her mommy doesn't have time to do much baking...it's a good arrangement all the way around!

I used to bake all the time. I'd bake fresh bread daily, cookies a few times a week.. and I'd always be trying new things. I made a pie from scratch once and it was delicious even though the crust was not perfect (it tasted great but I didn't seal it right).
I don't bake much anymore. Partly because I'm lazy, partly because of the cost.. I don't have all those ingredients on hand anymore. Partly because of the lack of space in my kitchen now (I used to live in a much larger house). It's also partly because of my diet.. which I'm no longer on, but I did stop baking once I started dieting and just never went back to the baking. Though homemade cookies taste a lot better than store bought.. I'd just much rather go buy a box of cookies at the store when I'm in the mood.
Though I will still bake cakes on birthdays and other special occasions.. but they're usually boxed that I just add eggs and oil to and bake and frost from a can, lol. Hubby's birthday is coming up in a week and half and I'll have to bake him his favorite lemon cake with lemon frosting on that day.

I am the same as I no longer or very rarely bake pies anymore and cakes only occasionally but I really have to be in the mood. I do make an excellent Christmas cake and what we cal Easter Buns out here. I don't decorate well either - just regular frosting or a home made butter icing. I used to bake every weekend when we were all on the farm and the children were younger but not now. Bessings

I used to bake alot! I don't anymore because I lost my love for it! I used to do for other people. I used to work at a resturaunt and everyone couldn't get enough of my baking! Where I work now it is the total opossite! People don't got nuts over my baking! I work with 3 people who don't like chocolate and then there is Melise! She would always say "You want to make me fat"! All that broke the camels back! Thanks to my co-employees I lost my love for baking!
