Have looked at doing this, wondering if anybody else has, or if they have thought about it themselves, any expreince with one? Basically you start a city community webpage and then work with local businesss for advertising, and many other things, the page seems pretty promising, however there are some others. This one was mentioned in INC magazine.

You have rose colored glasses on? First of all no one will work with you an a project like this. Everyone thinks that they can do it better. Further, they think that they should steal your ideas because, after all, you're a nobody with no experience. And don't talk about costs. We didn't have one with no money, so if we have one it will be with no money.
Get the idea?
Don't waste your time unless you're the city mayor.

Really? I know one person that is local who started their own, now this area is not densely populated the locals there chat and use the forums all the time.. check his site out http://www.gowilkes.com now I know he does ok with his page, however not sure if he programed it himself or not.. that is one county over from mine, and the same county that Jr. Johnson lives in, (Jr. Johnson is the well known NASCAR driver from back in the moonshine carting days.) That was why I was looking into a packaged site as I know the gowilkes does pretty good.
