yeah that's life... God Bless you for being humble.... And I hope you will have what you wanted for. Sorry I can't, I'm here in Philippines and don't have computer for you. If you have USB slot you can just use USB flashdisk or thumbdrive 2gig may do, or 4gig or 16. The best way is to have Linux Ubuntu instead Windows it can run on your P4, I think. Or other Linux that can run specifically to your P4. Good luck to your adventure in life.

Well, of course you have to look and study for that. ( http://www.ubuntu.com/ ) .... for minimum computer specification requirements... (look at below.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_(operating_system)) Really good, nice, sweet and easy. You won't regret it. They are absolutely free, you can download (700mb), or deliver it for free. Just go the homepage, I posted above. After you have installed, you have free usable not demos applications. Like for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphic editor, socializing, and more. You can have the Operating System on a thumb-drive or flash-disk, so you can use to any computers you like.

you have to reformat your computer and buy a new operating system. You can also download it from torrent and transfer it to a bootable cd/dvd.

so sorry to hear that you are going through this,Nina Khan. Computers can be so frustrating, can't they? How about using one in a library until you can save enough to get one. Hope you find something soon or are able to get the one you have fixed.

Hm..so, not buying laptop then was a bad idea.Next time don't listen to anyone(including me) and buy what you need when you feel that you need it.Nobody can know better what you need the most.Even mother. I'm glad that you want to study again. No matter how long it is, it's worth it.Look at the people who don't learn and don't seek for knowledge - the fail in life even when they're rich. You can overcome the obstacles.Go for knowledge.I remember standing for three hours in front of the computer class, sometimes they wouldn't open it at all and I walked home dreaming about my own PC.Finally, when I bought it, I realized it wasn't good enough, but at least I had something of my own.I'm still working with it, sometimes it works fine, sometimes very slow, but like you I'm short with money at the moment.Internet isn't the whole world, neither is Mylot.Concentrate on your future studies and you gonna have what you want. All the best.

Yes, I suggest you get a job quickly, or just like the other said, you may go online from an internet cafe. Have you ever brought your PC to the service center, or have you ever identified the problem? Because if only one or two components damaged, you don't need to buy the whole computer. Just replace the damage one with new one, or fix it.

Are you sure that you dont have a virus? Have you done any scans to clean up the system? you need someone who knows about comuters to have a look at it for you. have you done that yet? do that before you give up on it.

That electricity problem can really mess up the computers. One day we came home and the two laptops and desktop PC's were gone. Lucky for me my son builds PC's so he was able to do some scaveging and replace the parts that were damaged. I hope you can get a new one or can eventually do the repairs that it needs. Wish you the best of luck.

Hi Nina! Sorry to hear about your computer problems. I'd swap with you, but it makes no sense to swap one broken computer for another. Once you start University, do they give any assistance for helping you find a better job? Would be nice if it did. Bet you wish you had gotten that smart phone now, huh? Well, anyway...take care. Hope your computer gets fixed soon, and that you do great at school! Hugs ~cat

Dont worry about having a computer at the moment, i would donate one but sadly i cannot as i do not have a spare one ):. If you are going into university at the moment you dont need to worry about having a computer but instead concentrate on your studies so you can make a living out of that and then just maybe you can get your self a brand spanking new computer. It is worth the wait i waited over 4 years for my new one and i am absoulutely loving it ~!

You can just ask someone to repair it for you. From what you said there could be more than one problem. But I think it might be a motherboard issue.
