Hello to all of my kabayans!!!
We understand guys in our country there are two big known internet providers Globe and Smart. There are few ones but not as big as this two competing Internet Providers.
For over three Smartbro was servicing my Internet connection. For me they were good and very accommodating on their clients. I never tried ever since Globebroadband because I was afraid I would just might have problem with Globe since they never had a good services on their clients.
And it was proven.
First week this month they (Globe) came up with their month old promo called "WiFi your Home"...something like Wimax in Smart. It is a plug and play gadget same like with smartbro which was wireless also (canopy).
They (Globe) had internal modem which you would just put beside on your PC and one eternal antenna.
Internal antenna indicates three bars that means the signal is strong. BUT, the connection is so slow (turtle slow). Thought of maybe because I needed to upgrade my PC memory, i right away added and it become 1Gig now. But, still the connection was so so slow. So annoying, disturbing, frustrating and so disgusting.
Another thins is, their technical group when you call them they can't give exact trouble shoot on your problem because they are relying on their engineers outside near on your area...unlike in smartbro they have one on one trouble shoot with you in front of your computer and the technician on the other end (line).
Here are the problems on their new promo:
Slow connections, if you open your yahoo mail you can't access right away, and if you can it is disconnected after a couple of minutes. You can't go on YM(chat) because it would turn disconnected.
WHen you call their technical people on telephone line they would just rely on their field engineers and promised someone from their technical people would come to your on that precise day but it never did....so frustrating..
I don't know if you experiece this from this new promo.
Honestly I regretted why I jumped from smart to Globe. I was just maybe enticed on their new promo since it much cheaper than Smartbro.
For me guys...DON'T BUY AT THIS PRODUCT..."WiFi your home"..No never ever try it even...You know what guys? Until now since day one I never have a moment I satisfactorily achieve the good service I expected from them...
Sorry for this long post...

There must be something wrong with the setup. They should go there and fix it. Have you tried speed test to know exactly the speed of your connection? I am using PLDT DSL and I have very good speed test result. right now it's 0.74 mbps, when I should only be getting 0.512
Try it http://www.speedtest.net/

Yeah, both of them sucks. I got my first Smart bro kit when they first introduce it in the market. It cost about 6k that time. I buy it because there is not internet line in my province and I use it to hooked my laptop when I'm there. At first its fast, but when lots of people have one, then the problem begun. I switch to Globe but unfortunately, its the same. I just give both of them to some of my friends in the province and installed myDSL instead.
Just maybe this one works for some, (though I doubt) it makes the speed runs a little bit faster :

yeah! i have heard so many bad reviews about globe as service provider. we have bayantel here at home and we are really happy about their service.
for smart bro, i think it would depend, i guess? my bf have this account for smart bro and he's not as happy because signal is not so great for wifi.
for pldt dsl, they said too that its hard to call their customer service.

I've tried both services, was a SMARTBRO subscriber for 2-3 years, and now I'm currently subscribed to GLOBE for more than a year.
Regarding customer services, I find it the same, that it depends on the person you're talking to. If you try to call several times in a day regarding one specific problem, you would probably get different approach/answers.
Regarding the speed, maybe it depends on your location and the numbers of subscribers in the area. If too many users, expect slow internet speed, and the far you are from the main tower/antenna, the weaker your signal is.

I'd still prefer PLDT DSL. There may be downtimes but they are very minimal compared to Globe Broadband that I had before. With my previous Globe Broadband connection, it is really slow during daytime and I only get to experience "speed" at nighttime. Well, I think it is because it is using signal before. But if you have the line instead of signal, it's better than the one I had before. But I'd still stick to PLDT DSL though. :)

Hi there, I did not try to use smartbro or globe connections. I am currently using sun broadband wireless connection. And i can say that i dont have any major problem using it. I heard that in other areas the connection was poor, but its good that here in our place the signal was really high-quality. And another good thing about sun broadband is you just have 3 months contract with them. If you dont like the performance you can easily cut off the line.

I think that Globe and Smart are big wireless internet provider but not really that good at their service. Im using bayantel DSL and had only one problem since the installation. I have no problem at all in my connection. Downloads are quite fast. If i were you, if you have a pc then switch to a landline based DSL rather than those wireless. No matter what company (Globe or Smart or whatever) I have heard the same regrets my friends had on them. Internet connection would be slowed down because of how many people are using that in your area. And i really dont prefer those wireless internet, i prefer the landline based one. This is on my opinion. My internet connection had no problem at all and thanks to bayantel. They have real goood customer service too, wherein they would just instruct you what to do. But i dont know of other places maybe they had problems with their bayantel DSL but me, i dont have.
