Are you allergic to the sun?

I used to love the sun. I wouldn't mind basking under it. Even if it's hot, I wouldn't even carry an umbrella. I am also proud when I get a tan. But now, it's different. I get allergies and I hate it. I get this red patches on my face and on my neck, it's itchy and it's burning. Now, I couldn't go out without an umbrella and as much as possible I go out before 10am and/ or after 5pm. My room is covered with thick curtains. I never thought this would even happen. I do put sunscreen and all but it feels sticky and I hate it. I think the best thing to do now is to alter my life style. Do you also experience the same problem as mine?

Hi. santosmarichris. No. I am not allergic to sun, that I know of. I can see that this can be so terrible for you. I hope that you are able to avoid the sun effects as much as possible. Have you seen a dermatologist about this issue? I hope that you will be okay very soon.

I would say I am not allergic to the sun. I like sunlight and I have no problem walking in the sun. Of course, I don't mean places like the tropics. I may feel the high temperature and the bright sunlight.

I used to enjoy being out in the sun more than I do now, but I wouldn't go to the extent of saying that I am allergic to the sun. I do have a tendency to get heat rash when I am out in the sun and though it is unsightly, it isn't something that I'm not able to deal with. In addition to that, I wear sunscreen on a regular basis and I love to keep all of the drapes in our house open. I love getting plenty of natural light.

I'll turn red easily now like a fried prawn. I'll feel very heaty inside. I easily get rashes when I scratch. I guess I'll never be the same outdoor person I used to be.

I am not allergic to the sun coz I am living in Philippines where hot weather during summer is common. I think you should not try exposing yourself too much under the sun coz this may turn into cancer or something. If your skin gets itchy, I suggest you may have a colloidal bath or oatmeal bath. This may relieve the itchiness. Don't forget to take a daily dose of vitamins C, D, and E to help maintain your skin's integrity. God bless you my friend.

hi there,
so far i don't have any problem with the sun, actually i like the feeling of it in my body, i feel like more energized. hehe
but like you i also avoid being out in the sun by 11am -3pm because they say its harmful and its better to protect ourselves from it than be sorry later on.
maybe you become allergic to the sun due to some stuffs that you apply to your face? in case you are using some products. did you consult it to your derma already?

Yep I used to be sun - sensitive but eventually i overcame the problem...it just went away on its own. that was about ten years ago when i was still in my early teens. i'm glad i'm no longer allergic to it, it was really itchy, inconvenient, and embarrassing..

No iam not allergic to the sun. I have been living in the tropical conditions all my life where there is a mixed weather condition of summer, winter and rains...which is 4 month each. You need to carry an umbrella or a handkerchief to protect you from the sweat during summer or the rain during rains.
