Asthma is caused if an allergen bind with mast cells and that mast cells are activated in and released histamines. This Histamines are responsible for constricting the bronchus of the person and thus he or she has difficulty breathing, it dilates blood vessels so some will have redness in their body. As far as I know there is no cure for asthma like allergies. The Best thing to do is to know what are things that he or she is allergic to and then stay away from these things. If she is allergic to foods then he should stay away from that foods as much as possible. he should also go to the doctor so that the doctor can prescribe him medications like Bronchodilators for acute attack like Ventolin and others. Some will give him steroids via handy inhalers. Asthma can he prevented but it can't be cured totally but some may have systematic desensitization like they expose themselves to the allergen gradually but precautionary measures are done in this things for sometimes it can cause an acute attack. This thing may be good but I guess one way to prevent is to really stay away from those allergens. If he is allergic to hot weather then he can use an electric fan or stay in an airconditioned place but if they don't have then he should better bring his medications in him wherever and whenever he will go.

I had a mild asthma attack a few months ago. I was reading online for ways to at least alleviate my condition and found that coffee is a natural mucolytic.

I use Mucinex to help thin the mucus secretions. It is not a cure, but it does really help.

I am asthmatic. This is not a cure but a suggestion. If she is out somewhere and starts to have a flareup but does not have her asthma inhaler with her, she can get some hot coffee and it will help open the airways until she gets back home to take her medicine. Coffee contains theophylline naturally and this is what they use in albuterol the rescue inhalers. I get instant coffee packets and carry them with me at all times just in case I have forgotten to bring my inhaler when I go somewhere. It really does help.

Hmm, Asthma is incurable but you can alleviate the risks if you are too watchful on it. You need to take note on what foods can trigger the attack. Also, you need to check on particulate matters in the air such as dust, pollens, etc as they may also cause the attack. Be watchful on some topical lotions or creams coz they may also trigger allergic reaction and later on constrict your lung passages and cause asthma. To be safe, you need to go to a physician and ask for an MDI or metered dose inhaler so she may handle the attacks under some circumstances.
