Since it was impossible for them to remove every piece of human remains from that site, I view it as sacred human burial ground and don't believe that anything should be built that close. In terms of a Mosque being built there, I think that is a slap in the face to the 9/11 families. While I do not believe that mainstream Muslims approved of the actions that day, the attack was launched by Muslim extremists who ostensibly perpetrated this horrific crime in the name of religion.

Welcome to mylot. May you enjoy the exciting and educational experience I am having at mylot.
What a controversial question.
Hi LaurenInLA
I appreciate your comment. I did not think of the human remains, however this site is 2blocks away from ground zero.
I'm wondering if a Christian church or a Catholic Church were being built there, would there be a controversy?
Just a thought??
Prosperous mylotting

First of all... it's not *really* a mosque. It's kind of an Islamic community center if I gather correctly.
I don't have any problem with it being built. I firmly believe that no group, be it a race, nation, religion, or culture, should all be held accountable for the actions of just a few. I'm a Christian, but I don't want anyone to judge me based on the bloody crusades, the actions of the early Catholic Church, or the bombing of abortion clinics. I don't hold double standards. Do unto others, you know? Muslims as a whole are not responsible for the terrorist attack... the extremist group Al Qaeda is. Let the other Muslims worship in peace.
