Do you watch your local news shows?

The commercials air all the time and they compete fervently against one another. But do you actually watch the local news shows? I really don't watch them, there seems to be too much of a focus on the violent crimes happening and as much flash as possible so they can be the show people watch for their local news. I can get all of that in a newspaper and not have to spend the majority of the time dealing with the same story or trying to make it big and flashy.

Yes I do.. it will keep me updated on what is happening in my country or my city. I think we need to be aware on what is happening in our environment. BUT i always make sure that I am watching a good quality local news cause there are lots who only just get those who easily get caught the attention of the people but there is no quality into the story...

Well, I do watch the local news station, its part of my cable package, but I like it because it runs the weather every 10 minutes... if I'm wanting to see the weather for some reason - generally either it is storming or looks like it or I need to see if it is going to storm, I want it FAST!

People are better off turning their television sets off and reading a newspaper. However, the newspapers are almost as bad these days. I don't know what people can do to find better news. The internet seems like the best place these days.

Yes, I do. It is my way of getting update of what is happening in our country. Though, it is true that we can read that in newspaper but I don't have an access to daily paper. I still have to go to the nearest store which is couple of blocks from home to get the daily paper.
But I don't listen to everything. I just select what to listen carefully and if I 'm not that interested I shift to other channels to listen to their own news delivery.
My husband usually opens the computer really early to catch the newest update but at the end of the day or even during lunch time , he'd still watch it on tv. :)No difference at all since he'll be hearing the same news on dinner times which he read in the internet and watched on tv during noon time.LOL

I sometimes do and I sometimes don't. I like to be informed about what is going around but it does get quite annoying watching the news. My other source is reading the news on the internet.

I do watch the news channels on the TV once in a while, to keep informed and updated with the latest developments in the country and internationally. I am particularly interested in the business news since my job has to do with businesses. Yes, I also read the business news in the daily newspaper and also on the internet. The news coverages are excellent.

My husband and I were just talking about this the other day. We tend to watch cable news so we are well informed about national issues but we rarely if ever watch the local news so we are quite ignorant about local issues. We stopped subscribing to the newspaper as well. Its seems that the only time that we watch local news is to catch the weather forecast.

Yes I do watch our local news. Though there are commercial breaks in between, it's all right. Watching of tv is supposed to relax us, I won't want to be tensed up throughout the entire news disrupting my whole purpose of watching tv. On top of that, watching local news is an alternative to reading of papers. If I don't has the time for newspapers in the morning, I will skip it. Anything that's pass noontime belongs to old news and I'm not interested in them.
One more thing I prefer local news is that I'm able to relate to them more rather than those world affairs which I have no idea about.

i really don't watch television so much but if i hear somebody at home watching the local news and i heard of a news that get my attention then that's the only time i really watch. I find it distracting watching not so good things happening around me but i think it is also important to know about what's going on in your country to keep you updated and safe as well. Well i'm not a fan of newspaper either so i think i'll prefer the local news on television.
