Are you shopaholic? Well i'm really not too much of that but when i do have enough money in hand and i am in a shopping center i get to enter all the boutiques i love and go home with lots of things in my hand even when it is really out of budget. This is not always the scenario with me but when i do this i'd sometimes think how could i put to silence my urge to shop. Do you experience the same? How do you fight the urge?

I love shopping! Sometimes I would consider myself a shopaholic but I can also resist if I need to. Right now for example - my husband and I are really trying to watch our budget so we can save some money. Because of this I cannot spend as much while I'm out shopping. There are some different things that I do to keep myself from spending. One of the things that I do is never take a credit card shopping with me and really limit my cash. This way I can only spend as much as I have on me. Something else that I do is browse and make a wish list. If there are items that I need that are a good buy, I will purchase them, but if I know I can get them at a better price later or elsewhere or even if it can wait because I don't really need it, then I will not purchase it. It can sometimes be hard to not just give in and purchase the items that we want but sometimes we just need to ask ourselves - Do I have the money? And do I really need this?

That is a really good idea, leaving your money or credit card at home when you go out. I think that would work because you probably cant shop without it. :) thanks!

I actually can't control the urge to shop in the slightest. I try to take my mind off it while I am online, for example when I go on this website, however I am always on eBay and clothes websites trying to buy something. I went shopping with my Mother today, and for once I only bought the things that I needed which I was actually very proud of! I have just landed a new freelance contract which gives me an extra £300 per month, which will certainly come in handy while I am at the shops!

I was a shopaholic myself. This is a very typical question for a person who love to shop. I was 15 years old when I first bought a pair of shoes and there I started to love shopping. It took me a while to realize that I've been spending more than what I earn from my allowance. I reached to the point where I was broke and have nothing to buy for food because all the money is spent on the products which I really love. I learned to control myself by rehabilitating myself and forbid myself to go to the malls. I've been busy with work and I've been always thinking that I should get home after work hours so that I won't be tempted to buy useless things. Good luck with your fight!

This is simple. Try not carrying a credit card or too much money with you every time you go to a shopping mall. write down all the thing that you are about to buy before shopping, and bring enough money for those things.

Well i think there is no one win on his urge to do something .(just my opinion) if i where you. you should avoid bringing too much money when you plan to go to the mall and if you have credit card try to leave those on your house i use to be a shopaholic like you. what i do is just talk to myslef and say (i dont need it i dont need it i dont need it i dont need it ) do it 10times to feel the effect lol

Whe I go around window-shopping in the malls, I feel the same urge too when I see those favorites of mine. Some times , it become pretty uncontroleable. My credit card balances keep accumulating, and the interest amount keep rising too. And, that is the warning sign to stop spending on things not really necessary. I am not making sure that I don't spend money unless it is absolutely needed.

Shopaholic????? You must remember that sales are an emotional thing. If they sell you emotionally, you quit thinking and buy. OK! OK! What to do. Go ahead and pick up the item then place it in your cart. Proceed to walk around the store asking yourself. Do you really NEED THIS?????? The longer you walk around the store; the greater the odds of you not even buying it. Give yourself time to calm down emotionally and THINK!!! Thinking should have been leading to begin with. Must get that working before you leave the store.

HI, I am not a shopalholic for sure. Everytime when I go for shopping, I will only buy on whatever necessary things I need.or else, i won't shop for unnecessary things. But when I was single and working, I will sometimes shop for those unnecessary things especially during the sales period. Of course, I still have a budget in my shopping. Some those expensive stuffs,I won't dare to buy. Not worthy to spend that much of money on it. In order to fight against the urge to shop, always limit the cash amount that you are holding when you are out for shopping, then i will not lead you to spend more on your money. Think of your future, it is best to save the money for holiday trip rather than buying things which you may not really need it.

Fighting the urge to shop is a very hard thing to do. when I was younger and still on my parents income, I was shopping whenever I had the chance. I was spending upwards in the amounts of $1500 a time on a shopping trip. When I went to college, I realized that the money my parents had given me for leisure was going towards season football tickets, food out with friends, and going to clubs and bars. I never realized how much all of these things actually cost until I was on my own. In college, all my friends had the latest handbags and designer clothes. I noticed that I wasn't able to afford many of those things anymore, so I started shopping second hand stored that had designer clothes or girls who were getting rid of last years fashions. I came to realize no one really knew that I wasn't shopping the latest trends and was fine with that. When I was asked to go shopping, I would go and maybe pick only one or two things up instead of an armful. It was sometimes annoying, but I realized if I did not have to limit myself, I would be in huge trouble now. After graduating college, I found a lower paying job than expected. I still shop, but I often fight the urge with reading a good book, exercising, or just window shopping, and if I find a stellar deal, then I will make a purchase. I also found that you can buy some nice items from Ross Stores for much cheaper than their retail value!

Well not having that much money tends to curb that particular urge a lot of the time I would think. However, barring that, I guess trying not to go anywhere or if you do, only on sparing occasions. Because I know many people who have to buy at least something when they go somewhere. Of course, when you see deals, it is very hard not to go a bit nuts and start buying things. Still, moderating how often you go near any of your favorite stores will help a little bit. Of course, there is still the Internet, so there are temptations that lurk around every corner to say the very least. Still, if you budget your money, you might be able to make some headway. Well that is the theory anyway. Theories are nice but they really do not work out as well as expected in real life.

I love to shop also. After so many clothes, shoes and bags, I thought to myself that i already have everything. I dun need anything more. Out there, there will always be something that I will like so there is no point in shopping for anything more when there are endless things to buy. I will keep thinking about the above over and over and most times it will work for me.

Just bring cash and don't bring your credit card to shopping center. Then you will never over spend again.

Find a mighty boyfriend who can control your shopping behavior, but he should be funny, sweet, thoughtful and lovable in other respects. So when you go out, just let him accompany with you.Haha, just kidding, this is a method of entertainment version, because i think such man seems to vanish. Now that you have realized this problem, why not make a decission to cut out such a habit. You lack willpower. So try to find willpower from your family or friends, not from you.
