I enjoy reading some of those self-help books, I think they can really help to get your mind right when you most need it. I'm not that keen on plain reference books although I do like to go through computer books from time to time as I have a strong interest in computers.
I love reading fiction as well and I'm presently going through the Harry Potter books again, this must be the third time that I have gone through them now. This is purely reading for escapism and pleasure though. Moving back to self-help books though there are definitely times when I feel quite low and depression starts to set in and I realise that I have to pick up a self-help book from my collection and I notice that it immediately starts working as I digest some of the positive words on the page! I would definitely recommend that a self-help book be kept by the bedside so that it's easily accessible whenever you need it.
I just love reading as a rule and it's one of my favourite hobbies. Andrew

Harry Potter has some pretty hardcore personal development, look inside yourself, persistence, self reliance, so much self help in fantasy novels when you start looking for it, Eldest was great for that.
Reading is terrific fun.
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you.

"The Art of War" by Sun Tzu ( I have not read it in ages and I need to find it and reread it!) "Carrots Love Tomatoes" by Louise Riotte, "North Carolina: Off the Beaten Path", "Running On Empty- Meditations for Indispensable Women" by Ellen Sue Stern. "The Art of War" helped me through a period in my life when I was feeling as if I was at the very bottom of the well and someone was holding me down. I realized I had to shake myself out of my problems and readdress life in general. This book helped in many ways. I really need to reread it! "Carrots Love Tomatoes" is all about the personal satisfaction I get from gardening. "North Carolina: Off the Beaten Path" is a good book to have when you are taking a nice trip either planned or unplanned along the NC coast. "Running On Empty" is the 365 day guide to remembering who I am and what I need to do for myself.

Wow, intense for sure. I might have to check out the Art of War, when I finish "The Power" by Rhonda Byrne.
Thanks for sharing the stories of what the books have done for you personally, I love it when people explain why things are good.
Cheers.

There are two authors who already wrote several interesting books: Sergio Bucay and Walter Dresel. The first one comes from Argentina, the second on from Uruguay. Both are psychiatrist who decided to write books to help other people to grow from inside and to take important decisions in your live.
They write in an easy term, so everyone will be able to understand their books. Once you start to read those, it will be difficult to leave them until you finish.
