My friend would normally use her wi-fi in her bedroom on her laptop, but now she can't receive a signal and connect to the internet. She told me she let her friend use her computer one night for something, and after that she couldn't receive internet in her room anymore, she has to sit in the living room. She even called up and asked her ISP and they couldn't help. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Maybe also try a few full scans with free malware/antivirus software, e.g. MSE, Avast, Malwarebytes, Trojan Remover, Spybot, etc.

In many cases a system restore can do the trick, but I cannot say for certain whether it will work in her case or not.
Has she checked the Internet and wireless settings? There is a possibility that her friend downloaded something, or played an on-line game, or visited a dodgy website, and that created the problem.
The wireless channel setting may need to be changed back to its default. Alternatively if there is an option to change the wireless channel then she should try changing the channel and see whether it makes any difference or not. Try with channel 1 until the last channel option. Usually the recommended setting is Auto.
