I really cannot sleep at night with the lights on. When I was a kid, I had the opposite situation. I was then afraid of the dark so I will really force my mother to turn the lights on. But as I grow up, I learned to sleep with lights off. This contributes for me to have a sound sleep.

I can sleep with the lights on, but I prefer to turn off the light when I am sleeping because I am more comfortable and at ease when the room is dark. It seems like I am very peaceful when there's no light in my room. I am easily disturbed when the light is on when sleeping even when taking a nap.

I can't sleep with lights or tv on. It has to be pitch black and silent for me. Now i can take the white noise of crickets and an air conditioner but not tv. My husband sleeps on the couch because he has to have the radio or tv on to sleep. I can't stand it. I'd like him to come to bed and once in a while he does but then complains that he couldn't sleep. It's been like this for 5 years now. I don't mind because i like to have the bed to myself as I move around a lot.

Hi Iamdee, I am just the same..I cannot sleep with the light on at all. The strange thing is that if I need to take a nap in the daytime I can sleep with the daylight so our bodies must differentiate between different types of light and mine certainly doesn't like artificial light if I am trying to sleep :o)

It doesn't matter to me,as long as I'm tired it doesn't matter that much, but lights off is definetly better.
