Do you think the dead are among us??

I just finished reading the Lovely Bones. Fantastic book. Much better than the movie. Anyways it left me wondering if the dead really are among the living. I haven't had any one extremely close to me pass away. There was a childhood friend who had moved away in highschool and I saw a handful of times for like 5 seconds. She committed suicide the day after my 21st birthday. I took it hard for a while. I had a dream that we were walking in the ocean and the waves knocked me down and I couldn't get back up. Then in the same dream I was on my bed reading this note she had written. She wanted me to tell her mother that she was okay now and she was in a better place. When I got to a point in the letter the ink was bleeding like it had gotten wet so I couldn't read any more. That was the closest I have come to an interaction like that. Have any of you ever had a living dead moment?
