Don't post it here, it could be deleted. Instead go to fictionpress.com and make an account. I have an account there and I from time to time write books or stories, most of the time I delete them. Don't give up on your writing, and have fun!

I guess mostly because I want to improve the story, and never get around to doing so.

I've always enjoyed writing.
I wrote my first musical composition when I was about 10 years old, and my first long story when I was 11 or 12. It was 366 pages, but mind that it was handwritten in my big, clunky 6th grade handwriting.
Currently, I am writing a novel about a schizophrenic and I have posted most of it to the Booksie website. I do have to admit that I do not think that Booksie is user friendly by any means. Until the Twilight saga became ever so popular, I used to write stories about vampire clans. My current project has been in production for several years. While the basic idea of it was sprung from a particular music video, the rest of the basic idea stemmed from a conversation that a friend and I had late one night about an almost related subject mater. For the following several weeks, I envisioned the idea in my head and began writing down ideas and character outlines.
Sometimes writing a bit and taking a break is the best way to go!
Good luck!

It's probably against Mylot's rules to post book chapters here. Since you can't copy and paste yet, you'd have to type them out. Is it really worth your time, especially if there's a good chance they'll be deleted?
As for your friend's opinions, maybe some of them want to protect your feelings. Friends and relatives are really the worst people to give you any idea of whether your writing is good or bad. They may not want to hurt your feelings, or they just aren't qualified to judge. If your novel is written the way this discussion is written, you have a long way to go in improving your writing. Of course, I know that most people don't worry as much about proper spelling and grammar on Mylot as they would with something more important, so I'm not assuming you can't write better than this.
The suggestion that you take a look at FictionPress is a good one. Anybody can post their work there. There are no editors, no fees. If your work is good enough to attract readers, you'll get the audience you're looking for. If you don't get very many reads, then you might want to try to figure out what the problem is.
Best of luck.
