Phineas and Ferb

I am suprised there is no discussion on this yet. This Disney show was created by Jeff Marsh and Dan Povermiere, a former writer of Family Guy (which actually resulted in Seth MacFarlane guest-starring in Phineas and Ferb, yes, a DISNEY show, for a humorous interation with his old employee). When I first viewed the commercials a year ago, I initially scorned it because, look at other animated series and Disney. I thought it was going to be another unintelligent show with unsympathetic comedy protagonists and unsmart humor. How wrong I was. The first episode I ever watched was the one where Phineas thumb wrestles with the bully. Wait, the bully character is a good sport? It takes advantage of its outragous environment of animation while having creative antics with some complexity. And wouldn't you know it, even the random humor works out. Finally, I do not even have to compare this to other shows to show that this goes out of its way to be FAR FROM MEAN-SPIRITED. The boys do not get into antics for mischief, they do it so they and their friends could have fun. All the better is that they ACTUALLY help. Not like other protagonists who are well-intended (like the later Spongebob) but oblivious to the fact that they are only harassing someone. And they give just about all their characters the right redeemable traits. And the creators brothered to develop the character relationships, but that's a sure sign that flanderization will be avoided.

Great post as I totally agree. I first started watching it with my son and realized it quickly became one of my favorite Disney shows to watch with him. Very well written with some intelligent adult themes to keep us entertained. Very much like Pixar that way. Thanks for bringing it up!

Well, aren't you a little too old to be watching an animated show. No, no you are not, because the creator's made the show universal.
