I think it depends on what a person wants to do. You can't become a doctor or lawyer without the proper education. A lot of people go to college simply because it's the thing to do, without any goals or even an idea of what they want to do when they graduate. How can a person get somewhere if he doesn't know where he's going? By the same token, if someone with a high school education really wants to own their own business or whatever, he can do it by applying himself. An education doesn't guarantee anything. Except maybe having to pay back a student loan!

this is a long history question in my country, I haven't been to college, because I think experience and real skill more important than degree, but I find the degree has a advantage is more opportunity than no degree, employers generally select them first you second, no degree I must pressure myself become more skills and abilities too.

I still think that education is important. people with college degrees have shown that they can start and complete a major task. Often college graduates do not know how to market their skills they have edveloped. Todays job market wants skills not job experience.

For years now, we have been deceived by the myth of a college education. Our schools and colleges have been so dumbed-down that the academics are worthless. The "carrot" and promise of making lots of money are part of that continued deception. Way too much money is extracted from innocent students who must pay for a substandard education. It has been my experience in my family and among my friends that the promise of a materially rewarding job is false and unattainable by even those with college degrees who remain indebted for many years of student loans after graduation and do not find sufficient employment.

Well yeah a lot of people got to college and than have trouble finding a job, but some colleges do help so that one can get a job after a degree is obtained. I am in college right now and I really hope that in the end it's all worth it. I am trying to get an associates degree and it's in the medical field since people that get degrees for the medical field find a job quickly because their one of the ones that are high in demand right now. It really depends like if your going to get a degree in music or something like that it is really going to be hard finding a job for that one. Since somebody did that and now posts that college was a waste of time, but I don't think that college is a waste of time it's actually very good and you could feel like you have accomplished something and have done some good in your life. I had to go to college because my mom wanted me too and also if I don't go than my parents will never teach me to drive or buy me a car so that's why I decided that I am going to go to college. I do admit though college is a bit boring because well actually maybe it's just me because I am not a very social person so maybe that's why it's boring right now, but when my friends apply in winter it will be more fun because than I will have friends going there and I will have the confidence that I need to make new friends. I don't know, but it's always like that with me. Anyway education always makes a difference and I guess that's how people now a days think because you know they will usually ask one if they have ever gone to college and if they haven't than they will think that they were not very smart or something well that's how people are viewed over here anyway simple as that if you went to college than you are doing something positive as to compared to that you didn't go people won't really take to nicely to that over here where I live. Well that's all I have to say and happy mylotting, ANIME123 is out to mylot some more.

For me attending college was very useful! Although I only went 3 1/2yrs, and didn't graduate, the information, and the study habits, helped me in what I do today! I usually work at jobs right alongside college graduates ! I've learned a lot outside of college, but in college, and in the military I learned a lot of things that I would not have learned, had I not attended even some time in school !

In my country Philippines, If you are a college degree with good background and a standard college university, then your in good company..but if you just graduate in high school or droped out..then it's impossible..BUT HERE IN USA, i don't think so, they preferred with hardworking and willing to work with out any experience and with good record. When i was in Philippines 3 years ago, i can't hardly get a job even though i have experience. But when i got here, after a month i already got a job...

Hi, In such a fast moving society,it is best to have a qualification in order to get a good job with better pay. Of course, some people may not have a high qualification, end up having a good job and good life. That is their fate. Some of them are getting their own family business,so of course, they do not need to have high qualification, but they already having a good position in the company.
