Without an education you can't get far in the corporate world. Kids need to get the best education to have a chance of getting a better career. Kids get angry and think they can make it on their own they drop out of school and many wind up on the streets. How can you talk with kids and help them to be patient and follow the regulations of the school system?

Set a good example. Take an interest in their school work and try to arrange for them to visit local businesses to see what an education will do for them.

Been there! Done that! still doing it and will continue to do it! Kids today think setting a good example is letting them learn on their own and making their own mistakes. Unfortunatley those mistakes could cost more than their career. Take an interest in their school work. It has to make it home first. Some parents don't have the time to pamper these kids due to work obligations to support these kids to begin with. But you are right we have to continue to work with them and try to get them to understand "The real world don't give a damn if they succeed or not, you are replacable."

find out what excites the child then use it to get them to work in school toward that goal. Then you can use the desires to explain how the regulations and rules help them achieve those goals.

If parents make education a priority in their own lives and pass this value to their children, they won't have any trouble keeping the kid in school. There was never any question in my house that my children would finish school, and they did. We also took a 16-year-old foster child who was highly at risk, and we got he to graduate while he was with us. We just made our expectations clear to him, plus I talked to him a lot about the values of education.
