Love and Cheating

I have never understood how someone can say that they love you but yet the cheated on you. The worse excuse that I have ever heard is that they were drunk. What does that mean? I used to drink but I knew exactly what I was doing. And the infamous line, "I didn't enjoy it". How can that possibly be true? Can someone really love you but cheat?
