hurt me with truths, but never comfort me with lies....

which is better? being hurt with what is the truth or being comforted with all the lies....
i have a boyfriend who told me that....
he rather wanted me to tell those truths that may hurt, rather than saying lies that can make him happy....
for you guys...how you find it???

I don't agree with lying. How can you trust someone who lies? What I do think is right is to be tactful when saying the truth. Try to avoid hurting that persons feelings. If your friend asked you if the dress they were wearing looked ok and it looked hideous because of the shape, you wouldn't put it like that. You could say "You know what,the colour is definately you (if it is). but I reckon that black number you sometimes wear, really flatters your womanly figure" etc etc.
"This one doesn't do your shape justice".

but it is really true that truth hurts...
so even how hurtful it is, do we really have to tell the truth?
