What is the difference between the old and new covenant?

Some ministers say that we are under the new covenant but why is it that most christians do not know about this and still acting like we are still under the law?

Jesus did not come to ABOLISH the law, but to fulfill it: "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or tittle shall pass from the law until it is all fulfilled." (Matthew 5:18) Shocker of all shocks! We're STILL under the law! Jesus has NOT come again to judge the earth, so even though He is the end of the law, He has not yet fulfilled it. The book of Revelation has not come to pass. I don't know who these pastors think they are by telling the sheep that Jesus did away with the law... God will have some harsh judgments for them! Listen, Jesus is our intercessor to God on our behalf because we are unable to be perfect under the law. That's absolutely true. But the old law (old testament) has not passed away yet! Sure, there are commands that we can't keep due to the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem (for to keep those commandments there needs to be a temple standing). But when Jesus came He reiterated the law and its importance. If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then why would He do away with His law? It doesn't make sense!

Call it tradition. Or the devil's deception. Or the fact that hey, though the concept of saved by grace is quite easy to understand, it boggles the mind that the way to be saved is "so easy" that the person needs to do something to be saved.

True: we are saved by grace. It's not that one has to "do something" to be saved. I agree completely that that's the reason Jesus came. He closes the gap between us and God because we are sinful - all fall short of the glory of God. But the law is not done away with. Jesus came to fullfil it, not do away with it. Show me a scripture verse that says Jesus abolished the law of the Old Testament.

The changes in the Law, or perhaps it would better to say, the clarifications of the law, are clearly laid out in Matthew, during the sermon on the mount. You can compare said components to the law as it is laid out in Leviticus. Cheers.

We still follow both covenants cuz these are writings from the early ages. They're the scriptures when jesus christ was still alive so They're still important.
