I have always thought the term broken home meant the parents of the child or child once were together but now they are apart and the kids from then on come from a " broken home."But what about if a parent dies? Is that a" broken home"? Your thoughts.

A broken home means that the parents are separated and alive. But if one of the parent die and the other remarry , its not a broken home.

I don't view a parent dying as what is usually referred to of when we speak of a "broken home." I've never heard of it referred that way, at least where I live. I don't know if elsewhere they view things differently.

no, in my opinion a broken home or a broken family means that the parents of the children are divorced. i think divorces can be just as painful as deaths, but divorces have different psychological consequences on the kids compared with deaths.
