how to block a sender in gmail.com ?

hello mylotters, I have been using gmail for quite some time now. Earlier it seemed good. But as time passed by and I subscribed to some ptc sites and some other sites and gave my gmail ID. Now I am really getting ticked by lot of spams in my mail box. Of late I started searching for an option to block certain senders but actually couldn't find the right option. I also use yahoomail and it provides an option to block certain senders. Anyone out there please tell me to do this in the gmail. I just don't want some emails to come to me even in my spam folder. Its getting obnoxious day by day.
