You want to have a drink that is going to replenish the fluid that you have lost through sweat and something that will also replenish the electrolytes and protein that you have lost. There are shakes and things that you can make or you can get Gatorade as well as other products such as muscle milk that will help you recover from a good workout. Chocolate milk isn't something that I would recommend as a recovery drink..

Interesting.
When I had a personal trainer they gave me a list of no-no's for after workout drinks and chocolate milk was one. I guess research changes things. Then again scientists say something is good one day and then bad the next so who knows anymore lol.

My favorite recovery drink is juice. You may pick whatever fruit with vitamin C, like orange, apple, or even Lychee if you can find one. Make them into a juice. Do not add sugar, do not add syrup. Leave it as natural as it is. You may drink it after working out, or before going to bed. Two hours before and after eating will be most effective.

I would drink Gatorade, a lot of times you can get this on sale, or you could get the powder and mix water with it, I think it comes in a bigger container and might last longer compared to a ready made drink. You could either use that or you could just drink plain water with lots of ice. I would drink some during the work out too, not much just enough so you don't get too hot.

After, During, and before the work out the best drink to have is pure water. It does what your body requires with out any scary side effects.
After your work out, eat high protein foods with your water. The craving you get is a protein craving, and I would suggest nuts or quinoa. Or a protein shake, but those can be expensive. Appetizer shakes are relatively inexpensive, and can earn you an income, and I hear that you can get slim fast at Wal-Mart for like 6 bucks a 6 pack, in the US.
