I Cried When I Saw This On Sky News.

Everyone knows that animals are being dumped every day in this country BUT to actually SEE someone doing this on CCTV made me cry, especially when the dog is seen trying to follow the car but can't because of her overgrown claws. Fortunately, many people would like to adopt this gorgeous mutt, now known as Ginger. The question remains though; will this person be caught and punished for what he (I'm presuming it's a "he") did? Please form an orderly queue to punch him on the nose... http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Dumped-Dog-CCTV-Captures-Ginger-Being-Dumped-By-Owner-In-Weymouth-Dorset/Article/201009315737788?lpos=UK_News_Carousel_Region_2&lid=ARTICLE_15737788_Dumped_Dog%3A_CCTV_Captures_Ginger_Being_Dumped_By_Owner_In_Weymouth_Dorset_

I'm sorry it has upset you..it did me too when I saw the report on Sky News. It is uncomfortable viewing but please bear in mind that this lovable doggie is now being looked after (temporarily) by a lovely lady and it's only a matter of time before she is re-homed to someone who will love her with all their heart.

Once the dog gets re-homed on a permanent basis I shall post a discussion about it.

oh good to hear that somebody took care of the dog. I really believed that dog is our bestfriend, they will be forever loyal to their family. They would also risk their lives to us. I hope that people can realized that. It is hard to find a person whom you can trust but you can always trust on your dog, they won't betray you.

This is happening all to often. People r buying pets they can't afford to keep from the get go, tire of them and make lame excuses why they r selling them or just dropping them everywhere hoping they don't get caught. Most of the time they r just to LAZY A$% to train or care for them. The poor animals don't know what in the world is happening to them. They once thought they where luved, then like a piece of garbage...

Hello Janey. I saw that too, it was a cruel, heartless thing to do. I hope he's caught and severely punished, not by the police because they will just give him a slap on the wrist but by some members of the public who are capable of giving him a severe beating. He deserves it.

I can't believe someone would do that. The audacity of people thinking that its okay to abandon responsibilities that they have. I feel so bad for people who don't realize that the pets have feelings too. They look to their owners for everything and it is the one thing you can see unconditional love come from.

Welcome to MyLot! Yes, you are right. Animals don't take much to be looked after properly and if people can't look after them; why get a dog, cat or whatever in the first place? Doesn't make any sense does it?

I couldn't agree with you more. That is a dispicable thing to do with an animal who already has problems. It seems these people are devoid of feeling. It happens near my sister's about 20 miles away. Just after Xmas puppies are picked up from the dual-carriageway that owners have just stopped and left at the edge of the road. There are no CCTV cameras there. Many people I know and even friends, are against these cameras, but having been a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators I have learned that they are not the "big brother" thing that people think they are. There are just TV screens in a central control where the police can track muggers and the like. They don't spy on anybody really. Just loads of people walking by and they're faces are indistinguishable unless there is some wrong-doing going on where the police can zoom in. If the police want to watch my boring activities going here and there, then their welcome. But it would make people think twice about hurting animals or people if they are going to get nicked for it. I hope they catch this guy.. At the very least he needs help to learn what compassion is. On the other hand, a good punch on the nose and putting him out in the wilds with no car, money, map or compass would teach him a lesson or too. But that isn't going to happen is it? _Derek

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you say, I really do. I am not against CCTV, in fact, when you think about it, we've already had two high-profile reports on animal cruelty (the first being the wheelie-bin woman with the cat, now this) so, surely it's a good thing to have the cameras. I think there should be MORE of them! Plonk them on trees in the countryside to see if there is any illegal activity going on there such as fox-hunting, badger baiting, etc, which we all know goes on but no-one is FILMED doing these cruel acts. I hope they catch this guy too. Such a shame the car was parked sideways on but I reckon it's only a matter of time before he's traced, although I don't think he was actually driving the car..so the driver might not even live with him..but we shall see. It will be interesting to see what happens next. What they should do is shove him in the same spot the dog was abandoned in..place him in the stocks and those people that overlooked the incident (in offices) could take turns in chucking whatever's in their lunch-boxes at him. Believe me, I'd make sure I'd give him a direct hit on the bonce with an extremely hard apple!!

Hello, I just saw this news article on telly, is it just me or are there some REALLY SICK SAD people living in this world who should never be allowed near an animal/pet. Just yesterday that SICK SAD woman was charged with animal cruelty for throwing a cat in a wheelie bin. What's gone wrong, it's just not right.

No doubt the wheelie bin woman will get community service or something lame like that, much to my dismay. I hope she's banned from keeping animals though. How on earth that would be enforced is beyond me. You are right, there ARE some really sick people out there. At first I was so upset at "Ginger" being left behind like that but thinking about it now; the poor doggie wasn't looked after properly in the first place (as in the overgrown claws) but that doesn't make it right what that poor excuse for a human being did. I can't get the image of the dog wagging her tail, watching the car being drive away, out of my head. She was so trusting, even after abandonment..and continues to be that way. No doubt she will get re-homed soon and I hope Sky News will be there filming her new owners. That would cheer everyone up, I'm sure.

Hi Janey, yes, I saw the news as well and I think if they caught him he should be dump in the middle of nowhere with nothing, see how he liks that, I cried as well, poor little Ginger, still he is well looked after now and seems quite happy, maybe its a blessings for he will get a good and loveing home now as his owner seems heartless and may have been cruel to him, but the owner need to be charged and hopefully jailed. Hi Tamara. Yes, I hope this person gets caught too. Someone, somewhere will recognise the car..and the dog as well I would think, as she is a distinctive, beautiful dog that didn't deserve such horrible treatment. I am sure she will be found a permanent, loving home very soon. I find it sad that the poor doggie didn't even have her claws clipped and they were allowed to grow back into her paws, causing her to limp. This is why she couldn't run after the car as she was restricted from doing so. Broad daylight as well. Some people are so brazen in their actions, it beggars belief.

That is sad. To do this to an animal who gives unconditional love is not human. I'll bet if Ginger were to meet the monster who dumped him, he would wag his tail and greet him as dogs do. No rancour at all. We should learn from animals what love is all bout! Perhaps we are not the greatest living beings after all!

You are right, animals give us unconditional love. All they require is love back, that's all. This guy couldn't even be bothered having the dog's claws trimmed so it's obvious the poor thing has never been taken to a vets in its life. Let's hope she gets a wonderful home very soon.

All he had to do was take her to the nearest shelter or vets. The CCTV footage was taken during the day so no doubt all such places would've been open at that time. I cannot understand why people have to do such strange, cruel acts such as this. The image of the dog looking on when the car was being driven away will haunt me for a long time.

I can't believe how somebody dumped a dog like Ginger. So was she limping and she was not good any more? Why didn't he treat her for the limp? Why didn't he cut her nails regularly, so that she doesn't start to limp? I cannot understand his gesture. Keep me a place in line, to punch the guy in his nose.

Is that your doggie in the Avatar? Very cute! Yes, I reckon there is a large queue forming already to sort this poor excuse for a human being out. Can I be first?
