Most of us are stronger than we think. Our ability to cope successfully with life's challenges is much greater than our capacity to feel nervous. Yet quite often, in the weeks, days, and hours leading up to something that we feel will test our limits, we do become nervous. While we may have previously regarded ourselves as equal to the trials that lie ahead, as the event draws ever nearer, our anxiety begins to mount. We then become increasingly worked up, until the moment of truth arrives and we discover that our worry was all for nothing. Have you found this to be true in your own life?

Sometimes, I usually fear the unknown because I don't know if I'm going to be tested or if I'm just going to be the guy who collects the tests and the end of it all. Most of the time I try to go with the flow unless I feel like I'm getting pulled under and I have to be in control. I try not to play it out because then I've spent more time telling a story than allowing the one that is supposed to teach me something unfold.

Life is really full of challenges so whenever I encounter a new trial, yes I feel quite nervous but I don't let my nervousness overpower me because it will not make me efficient in facing and solving the problem. What I usually do is to pray whole heartedly for God's guidance because I am really weak. Weak as I am, I need God to be my strength so I will not give up in every challenge that I encounter. I believe that God will not give us trials which are too heavy for us to carry. God bless!

Hi iamdee, Thank you for commenting but I doubt if you are as weak as you think you are. There is nothing wrong with faith if it helps you, but some of those who accomplish the most in life don't even believe in God. We are not puppets on a string but are meant to stand on our own two feet. Blessings.

Yes, I was very nervous when I started working with low functioning kids since we have to create a treatment plan ,and is important to see improvements in regards to anger issues and social skills ,but it has been amazing to see kids go from no progress at all to moderate progress in a matter of a few weeks .

I did feel that when I took my driving test, my legs turned to jelly and my heart was fluttering. I keep taking deep breaths and told myself to calm down. Nothing worked. When the actual thing comes, I actually calm down and face it right on. Be it a success or a failure, just be brave and face it, you'll find it to be okay in the end. So, I think you are right, we are stronger than we think.

I have always gotten nervous when I am facing something new. Even back in school I would get nervous about a new project. That nervousness is still with me even today.

Yes definitely! How true it is. I've experienced this during the release of my 'O' Level results. You have o idea how freaking fast my heart was beating and the beat was rock-hard solid kind of beat. My principal told the cohort that it didn't do that well and I was really very very very worried. There were like only 5 top students. After that, all of us went to collect our results and when I went forward to receive, I didn't even dare to open it up. I've to go to a corner and start to open it up slowly and carefully. As I opened it, a lot of things went through my mind, especially the period of working super hard and the negative things like the bad results of the mock exam. Finally when I opened it, I heaved a sigh of relief as I did quite well, although 2 points above my expectations. I was thankful for the help by my teachers and my friend who was also my tutor. Yea, it's really true that when the moment of truth arrives, we always find that we worry for nothing because why? We have worked for it! We've worked for that day!!!

I do get a little bit nervous but I love to try new things. I am always up for a new challenge and if I don't get something right away I push myself to get better all the time.

I also feel nervous when facing challenges. Even though i say to me that i can overcome this still i feel nervous when it comes. It is one thing i felt i dont have control at all.I think this this is some thing inherited in the character of each person. We see that many great persons faced great challenges in their life. But they overcome it through courage. The best thing to prevent being nervous is stop thinking about it and face the challenge. It is lot more easier to face challange than we think. I do experience this many times.
I did like to add the quote i heard ' If you can change a situation why worrying about it. If you cant change a situation what is the use of worrying'. So stop worrying and start acting

Hi rogue, Thank you for responding and I agree that experience helps. The point is even though we are nervous, there is rarely any need for it. The nervousness usually goes away quickly, even though it will likely come back with the next challenge. Blessings.

i think we always be nervous when we face new challenges, and it just depend on the levels. in my life, i have found maybe i couldn't ignore my nervous, but i can handle it. in college, i catch all the opportunities that can help me build up my ability and experience.but i still feel nervous, and i realise it isn't a bad thing. as the nervous will push you up and you will do better.

I write a phrase that said to me few days ago, i hope you turns out useful. The phrase is this: "Any thing you can make, any dream you can dream, you begin. The audacity in itself bring genius, magic and force. Begin it now!" Goethe.
I think that the nervousism can be controlled to obtain your best result.

I felt nervous Pose with life's challenges, maybe because i drink coffee a lot (lol)' I feel nervous when am alone in facing life challenges, however when my children and my siblings are around am not nervous. As they're comforting me and supporting me most of the time. By the time we got over the challenge, they would surely say. "See mom, worrying is useless.

Do a few butterflies in the stomach count????? I do get a few when I'm about to make the performance of a lifetime. I guess it's all fear of the unknown. No matter how prepared we are, one can never be sure of the outcome. Of course, this is also what makes life exciting.

Hi bird, yes, I think that even a few few butterflies in the stomach does count. I've had the experience on many occasions. In every case however, the worry wasn't necessary, in fact was just a waste of energy. I guess it natural to have some concern and probably as you say, helps make life exciting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.
