I would check my account balance from time to time, at least once or twice a week. Recently, I noticed this unknown fee charge on my checking account, although it is not a prominent number or so, but it simply saying service fee. What kind of service fee are they? It was just a mystery to me. My bank is one of those giant mega banks. I felt like that I wasn't treated right, and I just sent an email to their online customer service to see how they would respond to it. If not reasonable, I might consider transfer my money to the Credit Union, or the community bank rather have my business with them. Although it was merely $2.00, but I don't feel like that I need to be charged. I lend out my hard - earned money to the bank, and they reap great profit by borrowing my money to other people. And now, they charge me fee for it? That just outright insane.

I heard before such incidents few months back. There are groups of people who actually does this for a living. They will charge like a small amount below $5 monthly to credit card holders and since the amount is so small, credit card holders do not complaint. What happens is these people are cheaters and earning nicely by cheating. They are smart as they will actually do it so slowly that they will only earn their million after a few years.

Hello, Kingparker.:) I am also a depositor in one of the stable jobs here in the Philippines. And there are certain charges from my account monthly, though not a prominent figure, too. When I asked for a monthly statement I saw that the charges are for withholding tax. And if my balance drops below the maintaining balance, there is also a charge for that as well as if my account is dormant (not moving )within a month.:( I'm not sure how it is with your bank but it will help if you can get a statement of account from them since you will be able to see the break down of all transactions in your account. But, I suspect that it is possibly a tax.I hope you can have confirmation from your bank the soonest time possible. It is not an easy feeling not knowing what is going on with your hard earned money.:(

I completely agree with you. Where i put my money is the national bank where almost everyone here has an account and they still charge you $2 when/if you have less than $500 in it. Its like rubbing salt in the wound. Imagine if you have $499 in it they will deduct $2 from there till its $O. Its such a hassle to move all the present transactions (my paypal is verified with this bank) out so I try to comply by not leaving less than $500 inside. But thats all. I have started putting my money in another bank where they dun have such a ruling.

Well, competition always out there, and people should consider what is worth their patronage. I am a customer, if I don't feel they would appreciate my business, I would move somewhere else, whoever appreciate to have business with me. Rule of thumb for this market economy.

It may be the service charge by the bank.

No, the thing is I have account with this for over 5 years already. and none of these charge ever present at my account transaction. Until the recent 3 months, started from July, I started to notice this charge showing on my account. I didn't have any abnormal activities, such as using other ATM, or doing anything else with my debit card.

I might have to call their customer service in person. But, I would like to email first, and find out about it in writing first. I don't like to chat on the phone, but if it is necessary, I would seek another method to find out why.

I understand. Maybe there's some kind of messed up thingy going on in the bank or maybe they have frequent processing which require customers' $2?
