Traditional or National Costumes/dress here in our country, Philippines, are called Filipiniana/baro't saya (girls) and barong tagalog (guys). We don't wear it anymore every day but we still use it to dress up for National Occasions or during weddings when they use it as motif. Sometimes we also use our National costumes to welcome important guests in the country. It is still the same national dress, though yes some of the styles are a little modern.

hi chaitra....seeing you here after long time
ummm regarding traditional dresses...i wear them till now...i wear saris mostly and salwaar suits sometimes...both can be called traditional dresses....there are not many changes in saris..but in salwaar suits...yes...the salwaars are now replaced by chudidaars (though that is also included in traditional only)....but now to modernize it still more tight leggings have taken its place...i accept the slight changes in fashion ...but not so much that it looks odd according to your age

Hi dear,
I think you are aware about the traditional dress in our state. Set-mundu is the traditional cloths and later it changed into another form, the set-saree. Now people are depending more on set- saree when there is a function or any programs related with traditions. Now salwar-kameez is also available with the same material. It is true people are changed their dress code and turned into modern dresses then also the attraction of this particular dress is still exists. That may be the reason for selecting the same on special occasions by a major percentage of population in the state.

Hi, in the Philippines we call Baro't Saya and Kimona for the ladies while the men is called Barong Tagalog we still use the Barong Tagalog on very special occasion like wedding ceremonies or other formal gatherings. While the Baro't saya is rarely used. I wear barong tagalog if the occassion calls for it.

Our traditional dress is saree. When i was in Sri Lanka i used to wear it daily. now i live in germany. Saree is not a suitable dress in Germany's weather. it is not easy too. So I wear saree only for occations.
