"Bitter gourd", the name itself tells how bitter the bitter gourd will be? But it's highly nutrious in values and good for health. I tried to cook in several ways, but that bitter made my experimental cooking bitter several times, but today I am successful and happy , so I can make my family healthy with the dish and comfortable in taste too. I proved to my family that, I can cook well and healthy.

Yes, bitter gourd is a tricky thing to serve, especially to children. What kind of dish did you make successfully? I agree that that vegetable is very nutritious and great for health. I would like to know a new way of cooking it instead of just putting it in soups and salads.

yes bittergaurd is healthy for our health and for diabetic people also. i think u learned perfectly i think now. i will prepare many bitterguard recipes. i will make stuffed bitterguard like stuffed bringals, or i will make just fry curry with adding gud(bellam in telugu), or i will boil it and remove seeds and deep fry it in hot oil .now i will do tadka, fry onion, and in it i will add fried bitterguard in it with salt, chilli powder, besan 2 spoons, and i will fry and remove. in this way there will be no bittnerness or i will make bitterguard stew with gud(bellam) and will take it with cooked toor dal and rice .

Let me give you a tip here. Grind red chilly and raw onion together till it is flaky. You may grind some tomato, the country variety too if you prefer tangy flavor. Dice Bitter gourd into small cubes and add a little steam the cubes in a pressure cooker till they are soft and tender. Now saute the chilly and onion paste in a pan with a little oil. Add the cubed gourd to the paste when it is half done. again add salt (Very little as you have already added salt to the cubes). Finish cooking and serve hot with coriander garnish. You will be able to do this curry with almost all the gourds and vegetable you get. A curry made in this way is healthy because 1. The vegetable is steamed, not cooked. So it retains more vitamins and minerals than usual. and 2. Very little oil is used. Happy eating and healthy eating!

hi 1Bitter gourd should be cleaned and the inside seeds must be removed and cut into peices. 2Boil 1 in tamrind water with some salt added. 3fry the cooked bitter gourd peices in some oil(not deep fried)and take out from the oil into one container. 4Make masala mixture out of onion paste, coconut paste, chilli paste, garlic paste, zeera powder, dhaniya powder, turmeric, salt, red chilli powder. 5 fry 4 in the remaining oil of 3, until golden brown color appears and add the cooked and fried bitter gourd peices , add some water, cook for 5-10 min. 6Finally add 3-5tbs milk, cook for 2 min and finally serve.

Well done! I've heard that it's bitter if you didn't cook it the right way. Good job! I never try cooking that veggie (or is it fruit or veggie-fruit? whatever~~~) My mom usually cook it with some eggs, turmeric powder and salt. Sometimes she adds prawn. I never have a chance to try cooking this fruit-veggie.
