There are 4 ways where one can be crossing the road to get to the other side. There's the overhead bridge, underpass as well as traffic lights. What's your preference? I'll be using the overhead bridge more than any others because it's the fastest and convenient. I need not be waiting under the hot sun or rain, just to cross over. While there are not much underpass either and I'm not a jay walker, therefore an overhead bridge is my choice.

I agree with you on this There are too many dangers in having to cross the streets while there are too many vehicles on the road back So the intention of building a bridge.

Bridges should be built for safety reasons, but it has got to be accessible for elderly as well. Most accidents happened to the elderly because they find it tedious to climb up those stairs.

Of course, building a bridge is necessary for safety reasons I think needs to be priority for the elderly and children. If the stairs seem difficult for the elderly,I think they should consider offering sliding scale system on the bridge is necessary.

haha. You reminded me on my experience the time when I was jaywalking. I was so concentrated to cross the street as the police ahead caught my attention and pointed at the sign board above my head! "You are not allowed to cross here".... =| Good thing he did not catch us! We hurriedly walk away from the signboard and cross the street at the other end where there is a pedestrian lane and where sign is away from us.haha I sometimes use the overpass if it is really needed. Yeah, it is really hot crossing the streets when you don't use the overhead bridge. Because those cars and jeeps wouldn't even stop for a while so that you can just cross the road. There are no gentledrivers nowadays. =) There are not a lot of subways here in the Philippines. I only saw one here in Davao outside the airport and it as I look down, it was really scary to pass under there.hahah!

yeah you are right. =p I also use the pedestrian lane if there is no overpass around. At that time, i was hurrying up to get to the other side of the road that is why I have not seen the sign board...

Many of us have came across traffic wardens waiting to catch us when we are trying to jay walk. U'r lucky to meet a nice officer back then. I will always prefer the traffic light because I hate the steps. Once I'm up on the bridge, I feel warmer than being down there.

I really look on both sides of the road. Then cross in a time which is comfortable to me. It's my mind make things happen in that time of crossing.

I live out here in Las Vegas andd jaywalking almost becomes a sport for tourists. I personally have to agree with you that overhead bridges are amazing and should be implicated in every city. Cities are always looking for excuses to spend construction money anyway.

Wow, las Vegas.. It's a great city with lots of happening. It's too glamourous to add any other things to spoil the overall look of the city. They should have some underpass instead.

I close my eyes and just run across. :D, hhhhhhhhhhhh. No, I always use bridges. I have like a 'phobia' from crossing the road. once I was waiting for my friend, and while she was crossing the road the light changed, and cars moved she scared and run and a car hits her. she doesn't hurt as the car was just starting to move but we were 12 years old and this become our worst nightmare for years.

I understand both of your fears. It's normal considering your age back then. It's alot safer nowadays with countdown timer when one is crossing the road. The timer allows one to keep up with it instead of being left not knowing what to do when it suddenly turns red in the midst of crossing.

Safety come first , of course. I prefer overhead bridge too, because that is the safest way in most cases. I have been to cities where the traffic can be very hectic at times, cars overtaking each other recklessly. There, the overhead bridge is the safest way. It may take a bit longer to cross the road, but one has to take the time.

That's good for u, safety comes first more than anything else. Nowadays, most bridges have done away with steps to aid elderly in using the bridge by replacing them with elevated path.

haha =D I'm just like u. I like the overpass rather than using underpass or jaywalking.. hehe ^_^ I have no preference for overpass or traffic light, as long as it's convenient for me. It depends on which is nearer to me, and i will be using them. It does not make sense for me to walk to the overpass which is about 2 mins away, when i can be crossing the traffic light in front of me right?? haha

i will cross wherever possible as long as its allowed and yes use the type that is nearest to me. like here in my place now, we have an overpass here but i don't use it. hehe or very seldom do i use it, because i choose to cross right on the street playing with vehicles. haha. that's faster and less tiring for me. but in other places of course i don't do that, i cross on the right place and follow traffic rules. i don't like to pay for jaywalking. hehe

Much as I want convenience, the thought of having to climb flight of steps just puts me off.

No one walks anywhere here. Everything is too far apart. To get to the nearest grocery store is 10 miles. There is no "Down town" near here. Even if you went "Down town" it would be little specialty shops for rich people. There would be nothing to buy. It is fun to window shop though. We don't have overhead bridge crossovers here except for one for a school on a big road. All of the other roads are run like hell and hope you make it before the light changes or the turning cars don't get you. The drivers do not look for pedestrians so you have to really look out for yourself. Even at the shopping malls and stores they zip right through the places where they are supposed to stop and let you cross with your groceries. This is Fl and we have so many angry yankees here. They come down here and expect to spend as little money as possible. When they get here and it is more expensive than it is at home they get mad. Well, it is there fault. None of them pay taxes...so it just gets more and more expensive every year.

U'r in a prime area. From your experience it's not as nice as it's supposed to be. Everybody for themselves and that explains their presence over there.

i always see that i use the zebra crossing. Its so difficult and risky to cross the roads in the UAE. One day when i crossed the road the traffic cops caught me and i was fined 200 dhirams. its a lesson i have learnt not to cross the road except from the zebra crossing.

Jay walking is a crime in many countries but it's not so in china, Thailand, Vietnam and most other Asian countries. It's better to pay a small fine than to pay for our lifes.

I prefer over bridge. When there is no option then underpass is not a problem. And when there is neither of those, then first take look to the right and when I am near to the center of the road I look to my left. This is a good way to cross the road where vehicles have right handed drive.
