Do you think that Paris Hilton received preferential treatment?

Paris Hilton pled guilty to cocaine possession and as a result of her plea bargain, she was sentenced to 1 year of probation and no jail time. I am so tired of celebrities and faux celebrities getting a slap on the wrist for their bad behavior. If you or I had been caught with cocaine, we would be in jail. After these celbrities get a wake up call, they continue with their bad behavior over and over again. Examples? Robert Downey Jr and Lindsay Lohan. What say you?

Paris Hilton did get jail time, not alot of time. But she did have to go behind bars, i think to show her that she wasn't going to get preferential treatment (even though it was quite obvious she did) and to teach her a lesson that she is not invincable. I belive Paris Hiltons stint behind bars was to show young people and the other celbrities that were running amuck at the time such as lindsay that they are not invincable and the law still applies to them. Even if they show no regard for it at all. I like Paris Hilton, dont get me worng. I am a big fan and have the entire set of simple life seasons as i love the show and find her very entertaining. i think she is smarter than what she lets on and lives evry girls dream. I would love to have her freedom and funds.

I have to disagree with your comment. The jail time that Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan received is not the jail time that you or I would receive for the offenses that they were accused of committing. Yes, they did spend a few hours and in some instances days but certainly not the penalty that their offenses called for. What this taught young people in my opinion is that if you have money, you can get away with virtually anything. It gave them a real false sense of the kind of time that they would receive if any of them committed a similar offense.

I say nay. These celebrities might have used their names to cut off some slack but they might have done it unintentionally. Just consider the judge's position. It would be bad publicity for a judge who put a well-loved person in jail.
